1531: So we're 100% sure on Theo Walcott and Scott Parker, and pretty sure on Leighton Baines, Adam Johnson and Darren Bent. Just waiting for Tom Huddlestone and Michael Dawson confirmation now. Full squad announced at 1600 BST, remember.

I can see the thinking in it, both Lennon & Theo both similar player with Lennon a tad more reliable with end product, where as Wright-Phillips wouldn't leave the RB as exposed as he can back track but you got Milner who could do that and very few players can deal with Theo's pace would of been worth a gamble but fintess wise aside Fabio looks like he doesn't want any risks in the squad.

So much for his talk of only taking inform and fit players in the squad, hasn't Johnson booted SWP from Man City so by his own criteria shouldn't Johnson be going?

Not surprising really. People say Walcott being left out is a surprise, I dont think so. Anyone that does?

what we thought from what others had told us today.

Did anyone get those right at the point the squad was announced? I'd be surprised if more than a handful did.

I think its a surprise all things considered... Wouldn't go as far as saying a shock though...

for commentators - the sorts who are now writing "it's a shock" - it is a shock. And it just shows how little they* know.:lol:

(* me too. But no one is paying me to spout bollox about football. :P).

yeah, i would have left wrong-philips and taken walcott

last 20 minutes walcotss a much bigger goal threat than wrong-philips

but i am biased. i hate wrong-philips' dad and think that the boy himself is totally shit

Okay then everyone, let's answer this question:

1609: So there it is, in black and white - England's 23-man squad for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. Do you reckon it was worth a little wait? More importantly, do you think they can win the competition?

My answer?

YES. But we won't. :)

I reckon (as I said early this morning) Pat has gone for SWP on the basis that he can play in more places - Pat has played him on the right, on the left, and in the middle, so for the last few days at least I was pretty certain he was defo in Pat's pans.

I'm surprised that Lennon got the nod over Theo tho, as I'd thought Pat would stick with him.

See, the difference between you and me is the difference between hopeless hope and realism. :P

    • 1 - Mock Media - Rat Bastard 2 - Maquina - Body Transmission 3 - Mary in the Junkyard - Role Model Hermit   Honourable mentions to The Hu - Hun, Madonna - Confessions II, and Swapmeet - Mount Zero for also being solid.   Sadly, really didn't connect with the new Yard Act, a real shame as loved their last two albums and thought this one would be a shoe-in for AOTM, but felt it was a bit too generic..

    • I always fancied going to this one - it had my sort of lineup. Shame.
