Anyone else think King was played for 90mins last night so that Capello could see for himself how his knee reacts in the next couple of days. i reckon if he doesn't like what he sees, he won't make the plane regardless of form. He was shite anyway, but you know what I mean.

I reckon you're completely wrong.

Carra is going cos he's cover for G Johnson.

But he also has the added advantage of being cover for the two crocked defenders we're taking, King & Rio.

Upson stays home. That's £5M off his WHU sale price. :P

I would be very surprised if Upson was left at home given his 3rd choice status throughout the whole of qualifying. Could be that Fabio doesn't need to see him in action as he's already on the plane.

Yep, it could be that.

But it could also be the case that cos he's not covered himself in glory when he has played, Pat is thinking that the likes of King and Carra better him anyway - and of course both are experienced with England already.

I believe it was becasue he was sick of being treated like he was just there to make the numbers up in the squad. McClaren told him he was 2nd choice RB & CD but then a match came up and he was bumped futher down as Brown replaced Richards at RB and King and/or Campbell replaced Rio or Terry.

I suspect he's not even 2nd choice RB but sharing the role as both will bring very different qualties to the role depending on the game, ie would you trust Johnson to defend against the likes of Silva & Di Maria instead of Carragher?

      Policing is very relaxed, provided you stay within your lines I'd say. I don't think we're supposed to have an event shelter as well as a tent next to our van, but we've done it without issue for years. It's a happy vibe up there.

      Do feel a lot more cynical about the Mercury now. Given the awards show is now an arena event, there's clearly a pressure on them to nominate mainstream acts in order to sell tickets for it. And not saying that Jade and Knats don't deserve to be nominated (haven't listened to either), but the fact the event is in Newcastle can't have nothing to do with that...
