You've kind of lost your point on this thread a bit.

You're here because you were arguing that Slipknot aren't a metal band. About ten tons of evidence is stacked up against you, the fact I used to be an original fan of theirs is also a bit contrary to your argument, and they even say on their own MySpace page that they're a Metal band which acts as a giant, great big f**k off iceberg to rip a hole in whatever argument you thought you had.

Best thing for you to do now is leave with some dignity. Most of us will forget this incident, nobody will think anything of it in the future and let the lesson be learned that before you get into an argument with people who actually 'know' what they're talking about, bring research.

Do you know what my final advice to you would be? Go outside, stop being anti-social, find some real people to talk to. Most people here, I'd imagine, have lives of their own that exist outside of their bedrooms or on Windows Live sharing emoticons and so should you. Enjoy being a child while you still can, mate.

people get confused between whats defined as heavy music, and metal. Metal is Metal, its obvious what it is, and many bands can claim to be aimed at a metal audience, despite not sounding like cradle of filth. The cross over appeal comes from the members influences.

I've grew up with metal, and whilst i still enjoy it , have grown out of it a little bit. Its got tired. I realised i liked Heavy Music, not so much the new metal albums coming out. Heavy music isn't neccesarilly metal

You go to a rock night or a metal/punk etc etc night and there playing the same shit over and over, and have done for the last 10 years. Whereas other musical styles moved on, and would throw in some golden oldies now and then, these Meta/punk/alt/whatever you wanna call them nights are still pumping Papa Roach, Linkin Park etc, All of whom lost relevence in about 2004 max.

dont take this as a bash at metal or metal fans, despite them being narrow mined, the rabid dedication and cult like following it brings is due to other people hating metal. How many times do you hear " i like A bit of everything really, except heavy metal n that" or " i like it when they dont scream and shout". Fans of other types of music don't give metal the time of day, and metal fans tend to not give any other types of genre ( except crossover artist) the time of day. Theres a balance.

ahhh Pavement were incredible. Was kinnda pissed because See sent me the wrong tickets.. so had to sit. But yeah couldn't fault the gig at all they were so good. The support were dreadful which was a massive shame as i had high hopes. But Pavement were faultless. Only thing is they don't seem to play Major Leagues or Carrot Rope any more, other than those 2 the setlists were great. The band were so tight as well, If anything it seems they have improved with age. Hope they stick around.

Stop crying, all thats happened in this thread is that someone couldn't accept that there was a debate going on, and failed to see our point of view. Granted Shock/Shaft had fun with it, but its not like theres been any harm caused.

    • I'm 59. It's not so much the music as the camping/late night chaos I've grown out of at R+L. If I was still local to Leeds I might still be persuaded for a day ticket if the lineup was to my taste.
