This time last year, I was spending all my time on this board, getting excited off my nut. This time, I'm really not quite so excited, because of /index.php?&showtopic=138366&mode=show&st=0">this pile of crap that happened to me at the start of the year.

So... seeing that I'm coming to Glasto on my tod this summer, I could do with cheering up a bit.

Now, I'm not gonna be especially looking to meet someone new at Glasto - I'll probably either be waay too hammered or waay too miserable and still not in the right frame of mind, heh - but it's a thought that keeps me smiling.

So, did anyone here meet their current partner at Glasto?

Tell me your story...

Hey

I went for the first time in 2008 with my husband and a load of mates. Didn't realise it at the time, but he was 4 months into a long affair and finally left me that December.

We both went again, with the same mates in 2009 (had already bought tickets, so .... ), but it was a bit odd, especially with him nipping off to phone his 'bird' ...

So I've had a year of shit (we also have kids), well quite a lot of shit, but life does carry on, its up to you whether or not you jump on the fun bus or the bus full of crap and losers.

You'll get there my friend, probably early days yet, but your time will come, trust me :P

But its probably too soon to be thinking about other people. I'm 14 months in now, and still find all that a bit odd .. :P

But I'd never miss Glastonbury as its slowly becoming my sanctuary, and is most definitely right at the front of the fun bus honking the horn loud and clear 'ha!' :P

Peace x

Jeez. We both had tickets booked for this year, but my wife let hers slide instead of paying the balance.

"The bus full of crap and losers" <-- Haha.

Aye, you're right. I've never been on that bus before in my life, although I can see it coming round the f**king corner and I'm stood waiting here in the bus stop. I'm just having a bit of shit time at the minute... could really do with fast-forwarding everything a few more months... :P

It won't fast forward, but you'll suddenly realise that its not constantly on your mind all the time. You just get to a point where you almost wake up and think 'F*ck it, I've got a life too!'. It will happen :P

And hey, GLASTONBURY, and A FREE SPIRIT!!! Now if that isn't something to look forward too, I don't know what is!!!

Put all your eggs into getting sorted for that, and time will fly by. Become completely addicted to this site, post pointless posts about the monorail, line-up, tents, drop off points, money, food, leftfield etc and you'll soon forget you even had a crazy bird driving you mad ... :P

Keep smiling! Just smile and you'll feel just a tiny bit better. It won't take all the shit away, but its a start.

Much peace x

There are plenty of folk (including Rabid & myself :P ) who have met their partners through eFestivals if not at Glasto itself.

I know of one couple in particular who 'met' here & then met in "real" life for the first time at Glasto.

Festival folk are the best :P

In very similar situation and recently decided that I was going to Glasto on my own too. Can't wait now. Am a bit worried, because I have lovely memories of there - it was one of the few places we didn't fight like cat and dog, so know exactly how you feel!

Sorry, no romantic Glastonbury stories, but glad you've decided to go!

Not at Glasto nope, but at a festival..... Leeds festival. :s

In 2005 in the space of about 3 months i left my ex, who i had been with sinse i was 17, left uni, left my job and left the flat i had to move back home with my parents. I was in a bad place, as you can imagine. I had tickets to Leeds that me and my ex had bought, part of me really didn't want to go, as we'd been going there for 5 years straight, so the memories would be FULL of him.

Anyway I met someone (without trying id like to add!!), and we had the best laugh in those 4 days of the festival. He lived 300 miles away from me tho so we thought nothing serious would ever come of it.

6 months later, it got serious! haha and i went to stay with him up in Scotland.

fast forward 5 years and we now have a house and 2 children! We discovered Glasto together (went to our first in 07) and its 'our' place even tho we didn't meet there.

Good luck hun, and i know its cliche, but it'll come when you LEAST expect it. Just have fun, and enjoy!!

Relationships. Not my strong point but I'll try to be constructive.

I fell in love for the first time at 17. We went out for a few years, got engaged and then out of the blue she left me when I was 20. Broke my heart and affected my badly. Then a couple of months later I found out she'd been seeing a mate of mine behind my back which f**ked me up again, then I had some other problems (job lost, death of a Grandparent, Mum went into depression...) Dark times.

Met someone completely out of the blue about 16 months later and had a whirlwind romance which ended in marriage, house etc. Married for almost 5 years. Without realising it, we'd drifted apart a bit and were living our own lives but sharing a house by the end.

Then in August 2001 a new receptionist started at work and I fell in love with her instantly. We had a brief affair, I admitted everything, left my wife and gave up almost everything I owned - house, everything in it (apart from my clothes and CD collection) - just to be with Claire. We'll have been married for 5 years in September, have a 3 year old son, Lucas, and another baby due in September. I'm as happy as a pig in shit.

Rambling a bit I know, but the point I'm trying to make is that relationships and love are strange, indecipherable things. You can't predict or control them but things always find a way - mainly when you least expect it. Chin up and before you know it you'll be back in the game.
