Tuesday night parking. A chance to party?

Having just spoken with a festival official about this, it's VERY DEFINITELY the case that people will be required to stay in their cars.

It is a car park, it is NOT the festival and it is NOT a party.

If having to abide by that rule is not to your liking, then the only answer is to not arrive early.

The festival needs people to take this on board, otherwise the festival's licence could be at risk.

I wasn't suggesting that there's an absolute expectation that no one will be allowed to set foot out of their car for any reason.

I'm sure they'll be more than reasonable with people who are respecting those rules, and they'll be no issue with people needing the loo and the like.

But don't be expecting them to be reasonable with people who aren't being reasonable in return.

The rules are that people are expected to remain in their car, and I'm sure that's what will be being enforced if/when necessary.

If that's not to your liking, then don't arrive early - that's the only way around it.

I hadn't realised that respecting the festival's wishes and ensuring that they'll still be a festival in 2011 was a dickish thing to do.

Can I suggest you buy a ticket for the Sunday at Reading? You appear to have the perfect attitude for it.

I'm doing the same....but still trying to figure how I'll get to the site on Wednesday morning since I won't have a car.

Are there shuttles from the town?

Taxis?

Or, worst case....a long, long walk?

One of the small details I've not yet figured out....

There are shuttle buses, I'm assuming from Glastonbury town, but certainly from Castle Cary train station, where a lot of people arrive for the fest. The official Glasto website will have details, if not now then certainly closer to the time.

Hi Mandy,

I knew about the Castle Cary ones, but from the looks of things it's a fair distance from Glastonbury proper (where I have a room) to get to those.

I'm not too worried...I figure it'll all sort out in the end. Like at say, at the worst I'll walk the five to ten miles...lol

I once told my son after his rather disastrous first trip to NYC..."It didn't kill you, and you've got years worth of great stories to tell out of it."

(I plan meetings for a living, so I'm fighting the urge to completely over-plan this trip and leaving a little room for adventure...)

That about NYC made me laugh. Years back I landed in Chicago to go backpacking with a view

to end up in Seatle. But I got my youth hostels and hostels mixed up. Got the metro to some

dodgy suburb . Then I do not know who was more shocked when I asked for a room , me , white

boy with a rucksack or all the huge black geezers milling round the so called foyer. Once in my

room (with 5 locks ) I realised it was all part of lifes experiences and I had a great time !
