What makes a good set?

What is it that makes a set brilliant?, what is it that makes you go and see a set in the first place, and what makes the difference to make a few sets stand out as your favorites?

Me personally, it's got to be one of my favorite bands, it's got to have the classic songs, it's got to be lively (don't mind a couple of chilled out tracks) and to top it off the weather has to be nice, the sun has to be setting, the atmosphere has to be amazing and I've got to have my best friends around me.

any particualr artist singling me out in the audience of thousands, and saying "oh my god thats Chaz Watson, holy shit, hey man, love your work" Then continuning to play there set.

Now granted this might not be everyones fave way for a set to go

Pertness.

I like it when bands are excited to be at Glastonbury and don't treat it as if it's another gig in their tour. Enthusiasm always helps

Playing songs, using instruments through an amplied means.

Atmosphere, the crowd all being really into it all, the band being really into it all, and a storming set full of the best tunes, causing dampness for the ladies and bulging for the boys. Plus a particularly emotive bit which makes you fill up and want to cry with happiness.

There is a very clear distinction between bands who love Glastonbury and those who see it as another stop off on the festival/tour circuit.

Fairly obviously the former are much much better.

I'd watch a band with a lot of energy and enthusiasm even if they did nothing for me. If it looks like the band is enjoying themselves rather than going through the motions then I'd consider it a good set.
