Whether or not Eminem's lyrics on record - in character - exclude him from a hypothetical Glasto appearance is a totally different - and moral - matter. For me, it doesn't, as that's censorship. Obviously others on this thread evidently feel differently!

It's one thing to have an anti stance to homosexuality.

It's another thing entirely to encourage violence against homosexuals, as Eminem has done.

You can keep your f**ked up ideas over censorship as far as I'm concerned.

So what if Eminem has controversial views, how many of the Glastonbury goers actually pay that much attention to him/his lyrics/his views? Not many I bet you and there will be an even smaller amount that are influenced by him.

Doubt he will play anyway, but I see no reason he shouldn't. There are hundreds of acts that have played that don't exactly make good role models - Oasis? Pete Doherty? Amy Winehouse? etc etc

So having thousands of kiddie porn pics on you computer isn't proof???

Or do you believe his excuse that it was for "research"? lol.

The simple fact is that you don't like Eminem, and are using his homophobic lyrics against him, and whilst i dont agree with homophobia, it certainly shouldnt be a reason why he can't play Glasto.

Especially if your going to let drug addicts(Amy) and Paedos play.

did you get your facts from the daily mail

if hed had 1 picture on his pc he'd have been nicked

for 4 monthe the police forensically looked at his pc and found............

nothing.

while im not sure of his motives for accessing the site, im not prepared to pre judge when there is ZERO evidence of the charges your bandying about

bit different to a bloke who actively promotes violence towards a section of society

As I've already indicated above, I don't personally believe Townsend's reported reasons. But the police did, and he's not been proven as being what we both suspect him to be.

That's not the case with Eminem's homophobia.

:P

I have no real issue with Eminem, aside from his encouragement of violence against gays.

I've seen Eminem. He was far from great.

You opinion (or mine) isn't what counts here, but Michael's/Emily's, etc. And from a convo I've had in the past with various senior Glasto personnel, it seems very unlikely that Glasto will ever consider him to be a suitable act for their festival, because of his violently homophobic lyrics.

If you think harming of the self via addiction is anywhere near encouraging others to use violence against gays then you're insane.

first paragraph mate. It even has a quote. I don't know about you, but in wouldnt look at child porn"just to see what it was like", man he even payed for it.

If you think thats acceptable or even remotely ok then you need your head sorting.

And you are more than welcome to your self-righteous moral judgements WHENEVER you are challenged.

It's your website but do play nicely when presented with an alternative opinion.

That was me playing nice. You *DO* have a f**ked up view over censorship, and one certainly at odds with the laws of this country.

And to prove the point: do you have similar views in regard to militant Islam, and think those types should also be free to promote the violence they subscribe to too, otherwise that's also wrongly used censorship?

Please refer your complaints to his record company, his tour promoters, or the good record buying public who can distinguish between art and reality.

His record company care most about the money to be made.

His tour promoters care most about the money to be made.

The mis-named "good" record buying public don't give a shit about his lyrics or agree with them or pretend as you seem to be doing. And so ain't good. :P

i would have to agree with Neil for once.

regardless of what i or any of you think of him i would imagine his openly and over the top homophobic and misogynistic views and actions (whether or not he actually is either is a homophobe or a misogynist is immaterial as he has based his act upon these things and whether or not it's merely for shock value is not the point) would rule him out in Emily and Michael's eyes it's as simple as that and that is all Neil is trying to say i believe.

the thing with townshend for me is the fact they found bugger all else evidence other than that one instance and you are guaranteed they went over everything with a fine tooth comb to try and land a high profile name like his for such a charge.

what he did was wrong beyond belief as he helped fund child pornography and he claims innocence and naivety but he isn't that naive and i can't for the life of me understand why on earth he did it and there is no excuse and no forgiveness for it in my opinion.

but i will stop short of actually saying he is a nonce himself, if he were it would have come out when that story broke and the police investigated, yet there was f**k all else to go with it and that is rare in this day and age where the media does it's utmost to take people down in flames and with people out there willing to try their luck and make accusations be they true or false, yet there was f**k all and it's not as if townshend has some kind of clout to shut the media and public up.

Oasis - public violence and bad attitude towards others in general

Wino - drink, drugs and violence

Doherty - drink, drugs and criminal acts

Eminem - anti gay

If I had children I'd rather they didn't see any of the above, none is worse than the other in my view as they are all bad for role models.

If others with dubious morals can play there is no reason he can't.

We all have dubious morals from the angle of others.

But only one of the acts you name above is singing songs with lyrics promoting violence against a group of people only because they're that group of people.

======

I've got to say, I'm stunned by some of the posts in this thread, and (at best) the lack of proper thought that appears to be driving them.

At worst, it appears that there's some right scumbags going to Glastonbury.

I agree sure, he is a bad role model. But where is the line drawn when it comes to letting in other bad role models?

Is Homophobia a sin but Drug abuse accpetable?

Are gays homophobic to themselves?

Are drug users trying to force others to take drugs?

:P

FFS, join up the frigging dots.

This is perfectly reasonable - at the end of the day, it's Michael and Emily's festival and their moral judgement is absolute when signing their acts.

It is also Neil's site and his moral judgement.

However, that is NOT the same thing as objectively stating that Eminem the man IS misogynistic or homophobic based on the content of his art - in my opinion. If he replicated those views in interview or daily conduct - outside the character - then it's more troublesome.

    • Muse will be about but the issue with Muse is that they’ll have the pick of doing IOW, BST, Glasto, R&L or big parks/stadiums.

    • Not sure what this means for 2027 but it looks like Holt Farm's website and email are both now inactive and unavailable.   It'll be a shame if they don't operate for 2027 as it was an excellent alternative to the other off-site offerings.   Fingers crossed they're just enjoying their downtime 🤞
    • Deftones, Blink, Muse?   Deftones as the next bump up makes all the sense, Blink as the "band that has never played before" and round out with Muse as its been a long time since they headlined and they have a new album coming which seems on the heavier side from the singles so far.   I could see Muse do their own tour to be fair, maybe MCR in their place? Could also see Deftones switched out for Slipknot/SOAD depending on who is about.
    • I have no issue with the Primavera crowd in most respects. They’re always friendly, respectful and no hint that there could be trouble at any point.   However…the talking is horrific here. The xx was pretty much ruined for me due to people having conversations with their mates the whole way through. Noticed it from all different nationalities across the weekend…English, Irish, Spanish etc. There seems to be no understanding of the nuances of when it’s okay to talk and when it isn’t. And obviously the sound being quiet at a lot of spots on the main stages exacerbates the issue. That alone has made me reconsider whether I will be coming back, it would probably take a lineup as good as this year (unlikely)
