Muse are playing Wembley Stadium 2 weeks after Reading for crying out loud....did you really expect them to be at Reading as well??? it will be much better for them to play Reading in 2011 when they can get them as an exclusive seeing as they won't be playing nearly as many stadium shows/festivals next year compared to what they are doing this summer, Obviously Green Day are doing the same and bar Oasis in 2000 Reading has never had a band headline who have also done their own stadium shows in the same summer, Killers are on a hiatus from touring and recording for a while, Eminem headlined in 2001 and was pretty dire quite frankly, The Strokes have stated that they are only doing 2 UK festival shows this summer etc.....

Just like to point this out, to help settle the 'who's bigger than who' argument, that according to Last.FM (good indication of band popularity) has these statistics for band listeners:

Blink: 1.4 Million

Arcade Fire: 1.2 Million

MCR: 1.1 Million

There's not reall that much in it, popularity wise.

Erm ok everyones bitching about this announcement...but who do you expect to headline?! I cant think of any epic bands who got big in the last decade who either a) havent played reading before/near the top or arent already playing at another festival. I just don't get what people are expecting!

Saying that, I'm sad about the lack of Green Day...definately don't think MCR should be a headliner. Although former emo kids > stupid numbers of rich indie kids as per last year.

at the end of the day like, its not really been fully confirmed.

MCR might not perform has headliner because of the bottling, and they might bring in one of those acts, Gorillaz, linkin park, i dont know.

but has 'neil' said its not just 3 bands that make a fest.

they could have the worse 3 headliners but the most amazing 2nd headliners and rest..?

why not just wait for full line up before jumping to conclusions..
