I may be shot for this. But I actually like the announcement. I haven't seen Gallows or Apocalyptica and really want to. I have seen Fightstar and Funeral both a few times and they are both class live. Not really a fan or skunk or Madina. I'm going to see what the Reading Line up is tho.

If Metallica get announced for this I'm sold. But Metallica could in theory still headline Reading :P ( I know supposedly Blink, Arcade and MCR are headlining but I can't see that being true)

After a fantastic start they have defently blown their load too early and with Download having such an amazing lineup, Sonisphere is f**ked - the Soni organisers have got to be seriously desperate now. They surely must be on the phone to Metallica to play that 'special guest slot', its really the only thing thats gona save this festival now

hahahahaha, its 2009 all over again...... oh wait, last years lineup was actually decent.

ticket giveaways? new fmc incentives? what will they use to shift tickets this year - cos the lineup certainly wont be doing it.

I love rollins, but he was a footnote on the reading poster 2 years ago - tiny print, not a selling point.

There seems to be a lot of people just coming on here posting negative comments who are going to Download and not even going to Sonisphere who are very bitter for some reason? :P

I'd much rather see the likes of Gallows, Apocalyptica and Skunk Anansie than Wolfmother (now a tribute band) and Lamb of God (redneck metal). I've seen Deftones who were average live as are 30stm and BFMV so when you break it down I think that Sonisphere's line up is better than Download's so far.

Looking forward to seeing who the special guest and some more bands next week, exciting times for people going to Knebworth and much better than Arcade Fire and My Chemical Romance :P

From Thrash Hits after they laughed at Madina Lake and Fightstar.

**UPDATED** Sonisphere have confirmed there will be another raft of bands they’ll be announcing next week, which our rumour mill suggests will include one band that we’re actually pretty f**king surprised are playing any UK festival this year, as to be honest, we never thought they’d play any show ever again....

System of a Down or Soundgarden maybe?

This new announcement is a joke, they are really going to have to give us some good news soon, or this years fest will go the same as last years - ticket giveaways by the hundred, under attendance etc

As for this Soundgarden thing - is it just me, or has there not even been a confirmation by the band about the reunion? Everyone seems to have been going mental over this, all due to Cornell's vague comment on twitter a few months ago. Nothing from the rest of the band

Mostly a poor announcement.

Gallows is good, Apocalptica are good too (and will do some of their collab stuff with Rammstein no doubt which will be awesome).

SA are decent enough, although I'm not a fan.

Madina Lake are terrible but will be very low down (possibly on Bohemia), and FF5 will be on Bohemia no doubt so not fussed.

As for next weeks announcement I'm hoping it is a big one to redeem this, but tbh I think it is silly saying Sonisphere have "blown their load too early" or whatever, the festival is still what, almost 5 months away. This time last year they had only just pretty much announced the festival, and there is still a lot of time for bands to get announced, I can see people being upset, but its not as if ML is that much of a curveball, they have played DL and R&L's in the past afterall have they not?

    • So bad honestly. I get that bad weather happens but their communication was non existent. When you're managing crowds of tens of thousands of people, it's just not good enough. I left when Massive Attack was cancelled (the first time) and it genuinely did feel unsafe trying to get out. No one knew what was going on, people still sitting in the ground when there were hoards of people trying to leave, no crowd management at all...   I've been to PS enough times to know sometimes you need to just roll with it but this was way worse than "the bar queue was 30 minutes long".    Today will be better but still feel super disappointed.
