It looks like I will be going solo as well, and its my first time as well...

Is anyone else taking the bus from Southampton? I would love to meet up with someone on the bus to help me figure things out!

Yep I'm going alone.. well kinda, I know various groups who are going, but none of them especially well... camping with an old school friend who always goes on his own, so at least I'm not gonna be struggling to pitch a tent on my own!

But as it's my first glasto, wanna enjoy the experience to the full, which I think will be best if I can just do what I wanna do

i went last year solo and it was brilliant. met up with several randoms. nothing to worry about. you;ll have a good time.

i'll be arriving solo this year too but 2 other friends will supposedly be on site. previous yrs i would arrive solo but meet up with a few others on site. i come from the US each time, so it's a bit of a pilgrimmage for me (this will be my 5th) but i always have some of my english mates going it seems.

even when i'm there with others, i'm quite insistent that we split up to go see our own things, esp as tastes differ.

biggest stress for me about going solo... I'm a 'city boy' who is shit at putting up a tent. just cant do it. i show up with a tent that i've bought the day before in London (in the midst of an all day session) or in NYC the day of my flight over, and so i end up putting on my american accent asking for help from stewards or neighbors in putting up my tent, and sounds like a complete idiot, especially as i arrive on site and first thing i do is drop my stuff off at a lockup & have a few drinks, just to take it all in, rather than immediately set up tent.

i met an Efester last year for first time at the bar left of pyramid who invited me to the pennards party, but didnt do actually go. so, i've missed the meetups (i arrived on Thursday midday, hard to take as many days off when you're flying from the US and want to have a good night out on Wednesday in London with old mates). this yr i'm determined to make a E-Fest meetup and meet some of these screen names.

i just hope one of you volunteers to help me set up my tent on thursday this june!

Im debating to go alone from swansea it was my first time last year with my gf and we booked to go again this year but now we have split up. i really want to go and iv payed my deposit im but am debating whether to risk it i just cant see it being the same on my own my mates have registered but theres slim chance of them getting tickets id say.

I've been going for nearly 20 years now.

The last two years I've been solo, but because I've camped at the unofficial efests camp site, it hasn't felt like I was alone at all.

Being solo has a lot advantages over going in a group.

Anyone coming for the first time on their own, you have nothing to worry about at all.

I've been on my own twice before. I wouldn't say it was better than going in a group, but it was definitely just as much fun!

I'm shamefully bad with tents - on both occassions my neighbours immediately offered to help me after seeing my struggles. People are much more friendly when you're on your own - I had my (stranger) neighbours bringing me 'breakfast in bed' from their campstove - bless! Never get this when I'm in a group. It also really forces you to socialise, and actually you get to feel much more of the 'glastonbury spirit', in the camp site and at the stages - everyone loves a stray!

Go for it bud, you'll be sorry if you don't go when your watching it on tv...you'll be kicking yourself for the rest of the year i tells ya, maybe for years after... ...lol.

I'm sure you won't be on your own for long, you'll always be welcome to pop over the cv fields to see me and my mate for a natter and a beer or 2 like.... ...

And the forum lot will be there somewhere, plus it seems quite a few people will be going alone, and i'm sure their will be a meet or summat... just go for it fella. like i said, you'll be sorry if ya don't...

First time for me at Glastonbury this year, have been to Leeds, T in the Park before but really looking forward to Glasto.

Unfortunatly my mates bailed and i was thinking of giving up my ticket but after reading these forums its changed my mind - seems there are a lot of people in the same boat, would be ace to meet up/camp with festival goers from efestivals, hopefully we can get something sorted
