Reflecting on 2009

Unexpected for me would be Blur - never really been a fan, but they blew me away (and yet strangely I think they look a bit rubbish on the tv coverage - suppose that's tv coverage for you!)

Ray Davies as well, I've always liked The Kinks but reviews around the time talked about him being off form, and having a tendancy to play his new material. I couldn't be bothered with Neil Young and thought I'd take a chance and he was brilliant! The mass sponteneous singalong to Lola in the real ale tent afterwards was a great vibe too!

The Egg too, I only really knew the At Home with the Braithwaites theme to be honest, I didn't realise the Citreon advert was them (I thought this is a good cover they were brilliant! Would defo go and see them again.

DJ Yoda was amazing, so shocked the tent was empty!

Bon Iver-Saw him headlining The Park stage...considering the amazing day I had, this set topped it off. I was expecting him to be good, but not as good as he did. I was nearly in tears.

Blur- Again I weren't expecting much from them. was going to see Prodigy but had seen them recently and I think they've had it now. A couple of 40 year old men screaming "f**k" on stage dont appeal to me really. But as anyone who was there or who watched it will know. absolutley amazing, but like I said before it was also because of the people I was with and the day that I had had. Such as Glastonbury really.

Ray Davies- Saw him instead of Neil Young because he was closer. Brilliant to see an old rocker actually acting like an old rocker, sat down playing an acoustic guitar...Best encore ever!

Neil young! Down by the river blew my mind..

Neil Young was possibly the happiest I've ever felt at a gig - as soon as that riff started up (Hey Hey, My My) I just couldn't stop smiling. Didn't want it to end.

Blur were excellent, everyone's who's mentioned the 'audience bond' and emotion of the set is bang on, it was a huge performance.

Specials and Madness were brilliant, very different vibes but proper singalong and pitch perfect, great stuff.

Only bummer for me was Bruce - I just didn't get it, thought it was all a bit self-indulgent for a Glastonbury headliner, I was just bored for most of it. Really, really wished I'd gone to see Jarvis instead!

Not necessarily the best performance all weekend, but what sticks in my mind was Altern8 on the Thursday night, that really got things off to big start for me. I was not expecting such a big night, I was gutted that shangri-la did not seem to be open as it was on 2008 on the Thursday.

Both Bon Iver sets worked for me, although I was late getting to Park for their Saturday night and was waaay at the back.

Seriously.

Blur really blew me away. The connection between the crowd and the band was once-in-a-lifetime.

Bat for Lashes live really took my breath away.

Emmy the Great charmed and broke my heart again and again.

It doesn't seem that many people here saw them, but Metric killed it. Shame the crowd was mostly there waiting for shitty Jason Mraz.

Really gutted about missing Jarvis Cocker...always brilliant live.
