John-Paul Jones "hoping to play Glastonbury"

Basically, i went to a Them Crooked Vultures gig in Blackpool last night and before the gig, when JPJ walked from his tour bus to the venue he came over and said hello to me and a few other people. We asked him all the usual fanboy stuff. he said he's still in regular contact with Plant and Page. didn't mention (but i think its ok to assume) jason bonham. But then i said "any chance of Led Zeppelin at Glastonbury next year?"

to which he responded "well, we're really hoping to organise something like that, but i don't know yet. don't quote me on that one."

so obviously the first thing i'm doing is quoting him on that one. make of it what you will. but as far as i'm concerned, straight from the horses mouth, that gives a pretty decent chance and i'm going to start getting excited right now.

Anyone else spoken to him? i guess this tour is the first real chance members of the public have had the chance to talk to led zep members in a while cos josh homme and dave grohl are both pretty chatty.

Thoughts?

Anyone who comes on this thread and starts on about "Nothing without Bonzo" is a moron. Okay. We KNOW already. Bonzo was great.

The three remaining members of the band and his kid will do me just fine and dandy thanks. People will fly in from all 4 corners of the globe to bunk over the fence btw.

:P

As a side issue, I was gutted to hear that the lead singer of Lez Zeppelin left their band too. I'd have given her something to hang her towels on. Australian bird. Awful singer. But :P yowzer. You wouldve.

With all due respect to Homme and Co. they arent a patch on the 3rd gig by The Zepp since Bonzo passed. That fence will resemble Helms Deep by the time theyd hit the stage Scott.

:P

Doubt the whole "Super" group thing though mate. It'll be some kinda band to headline it.

    • 👍 plus they brought their own screens 📺 either side of the stage.
    • Production was the only thing that could even explain why she would back out. Like they had sorted out the financials and she was fine with it and then a production meeting happened. It all fell apart. It was very clear that she was not going to compromise her show one bit and then that show in Brazil pretty much confirmed it. There was like one element they couldnt pull off outdoors, but it was negligible since the rest was a carbon copy of the tour she had been on. Glasto is not willing to make any bold changes on the Pyramid stage so then theyre kinda stuck in terms of what some acts want/demand. I think the easiest solution to that is putting her on Friday. You deal with the changes for one night and then re configure for the rest of the weekend. In 24 they were fortunate to have had Dua and Coldplay on Fri and Sat so they could both use the b stage. But I think it was removed for Sunday?     I saw a random rag article earlier that said Olivia Dean turned down Glasto BECAUSE her ex ( not even confirmed dating ) Harry Styles was playing the fest. hahahaha
    • No argument that he’s bigger than ever, I just have no enthusiasm for it.
    • Keep in mind those crowds were full of teenagers. Glasto aint full of teenagers. Theres no way she could demand headline and get it because they got other acts to give the slot to who deserve it with a bigger catalog. Reading/Leeds would headline her cause its still LN.  If the fest was struggling its Other headline. But a 3rd down Pyramid is likely the landing spot. Itll go down like the Camila Cabello performance pretty much.
