Pissing on the Bales

This is an ingenious idea! I'm with Rosemary Hooper, Wimpole estate's in-house master composter:

"Adding a little pee just helps get it all going; it's totally safe and a bit of fun too."

She could easily have been speaking about Worthy Farm itself! I bet Eavo's going to thank us for thinking of this.

I'm toying with the idea of strapping a bale to my roofrack. I can climb onto the car roof for rest stops, and then drag it to the campsite and use it as a brilliant eco-friendly organic composting toilet, totally in-tune with the Glasto ethos. I can just picture it, resplendent under my gazebo, like some glorious, dripping wheaty monolith.

Urine is sterile and contains nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. It is widely considered as good as or better than commercially-available chemical fertilizers.

My message is, even if the you can't bring your own hay, then at least try and pee in the hedges in order to improve the soil conditions on the farm. If there are no hedges, then simply pee on the grass! It's that easy!
