Quiet(er) camping

I've been in Pennards for the last couple of years but I'm getting to an age where I don't mind walking a bit further from the action to get a bit of P&Q at night. I was at Lime Kiln/Hitchin Hill the year that it never stopped raining and although was close to walkways didn't find it noisy(er) than it had to be.

I don't insist on silence (got good earplugs) but at the same time I don't want to be in party central nor do I want people falling all over me. Am I being unreasonable? Anyone got any suggestions?

Ok, so it was only my first year last year, but we camped in woodsies (the field near the JP tent) as my friends who have been going for years camp there every year.

Its about a 10min walk to the other stage, through the dance village and about the same time to the pyramid and at night after say midnight-1am it was very nice and quiet, didn't struggle to fall asleep at all.

Also, it's tucked away in the corner, and people generally only go in that field to go back to their tents (not as a through-passage to another field - it's a dead end), so we had no drunks losing their way and falling over us etc.

first year i tented up in Big Ground but its too lively for my tastes. the following years i camped up in Pennard Hill Gound which was alright - i was at the back so it was fairly quiet apart from the odd person off their head tramping on my tent.

I might try one of the western/north-western extremities next year though as i hear they're much more quiet.

I like to get my head down fairly early so being near the family camping grounds would be nice.

the quieter camp sites are further away from the main stages but dairy and paines are very close to the railway line. If you get there early enough you can bag yourself a nice quiet pitch and spend less time at the end of the night climing up the hill to the more popular sites of pennards or the park. If you are coming from the east look for other posters advise.

    • I wonder if he's going to get into the States for the second match against England. Seems a bit weird having players missing for certain matches but not others as the world cup moves around.
    • Quite lucky as I’ve no interest in Halsey at all so I’ve got time for some food and drink before getting in there.   But yeah… thinking I’ll have to leave early to get a decent spot for Gorillaz
