I've never had a tattoo, but I'm seriously considering getting one. Been thinking about it for years & really want to go for it now.

Can anyone reccommend any good artists within reasonable distance of Newcastle?

have you got any names to check out cejx - about to commence on the journey to find my next one and finding it really difficult to find a good artist - the tattoo in your pic is very nice btw

of course. The family business (home to the legendary Mo Copolatta) in Exmouth MArket, Into You on St John Street, Frith St Tattoo and an awesome new place around old St called Good Times Tattoo (full of brilliant lady artists). The one in my pic was done by the Italian Rooster www.italianrooster.it not quite finished yet, but need to wait for him to come back to the UK. Claire xx

Sure will, do not hold your breath for anything unusual or obscure I have gone for the really simple Glastonbury logo with all ten years I have attended around the side. Hope it looks good. It was the only image that worked for me really.

It has been nearly 20 years since my last one and I have forgotten the pain!!! Probably a good thing though. :P

Yeah the pain is a killer, no?! I only have one tattoo so far - I'd have no qualms about getting another except for the pain - I was dreading getting touch-ups done on mine!

Mind you I think I did pick a particularly painful spot..so hopefully if I got another one it wouldn't be so bad!

I started a sleeve on my left upper arm late last year. One particular weekend I went to the studio with £100 to get some more added to it. when i got there it turns out to be my last opportunity to get it finished as the artist was heading back to the states! So he just offered to finish it off there and then.

He spent pretty much 5 hours on it. It wouldnt have been so bad, but he split up my session with another customer he had kept delaying so i had to wait around for 45mins-1 hour. By the time he got started back on my arm, it was burning hot. A lot of it was fine detail so going over areas he'd already been over - Now that was pain!

If you're considering a trek to Sheffield, then Feline is where I've had all mine done. 2 by Fiona Long and 2 by Gavin. Booked in with Gav for the next one too. Good guys, good soundtrack to the experience and if you faint, you get a lollipop. :P

Good thread.

I like this one. :P

I got this one almost 3 years ago which has ref's to the pyramid stage, the tor and the chalice well among other more personal things.

Please tell me this isn't a real tattoo, looks like someone's drawn it on with felt tips!

Never mind that ... please tell me that you have permission (in triplicate !) to use the official Glasto logo on whatever body part that may be :P

Bit of a private(ish) joke and all that that some peeps will understand but let's just say that the use of any organisation's official logo without explicit authority often tends to end in tears ... and most certainly will do if they send a man round with paint stripper, a wire brush and some coarse sandpaper or whatever to remove the unauthorised use of copyrighted material :P:P

    • well, we might know by the end of next month if they drop the lineup early again
    • I'm definitely not camping 🙂.  My 17 year old Daughter and her friends are there 3 days and commuting back to Sheffield each day as didn't want to camp .  I am taking and picking up the Saturday so thought I may as well get a ticket as love Fontaines DC - need to do a lot of research on the other acts though to fill my day.    I walked through the camp site other year the day Arctic Monkeys played and it was like a War Zone.  My Son has camped a couple of times but didn't fancy my Daughter staying over.
    • Not at all impressed with Polanski saying "noone should be barred from public life" wrt the Tory neo-nazi. I really don't think "no nazis in politics" should be an excessive standard.
    • Dug into Milkweed some more and this was a brilliant suggestion. Thank you 🙂   This will come as no surprise, but I have been told that there are some band substitutions to come.
    • Yeah, I think it's important to differentiate between a stage that's just a platform for the artist to walk on (which can be assembled fairly quickly and without too much difficulty), and the custom staging that you get in big productions where there's a whole world underneath.   Using the Eras tour as an example the stage extending out into the stadium field has all sorts - lifts that go up or down - down most importantly as this allows performers to enter or to leave the stage as needed. There's passageways to get from one part of the stage to another. There's what are effectively dressing rooms set aside for costume changes. There's spare instruments (and techs to look after them) so if something goes wrong above they can be swapped out in the space of seconds. There's even a track and dolly system running the full length of the stage so that Taylor can be moved from one end to the other faster than she'd be able to walk.   I don't know the specifics of the Madonna tour to the same degree but my understanding is that a lot of the same techniques are used.
