The Beatles

I know that when I say this, I may be stepping on pins and needles, but I dont like all these people slagging her for breaking up the Beatles

Yoko? Me neither. If a girl was able to break up the band then they were ready to break up anyway so its all good.

this isn't bad either:

Love that clip, his sharp vocal, the short scale Rickenbacker, the Cuban heeled boots, absolute classic.

While were on about early Beatles, one of my all time favourite songs/footage mixes, of any band.

Written by Paul McCartney aged 17!!

a Beatle, one that wrote some THE most amazing and popular songs of our time can't sell out a show...??? :O

Nup, but at least it shows that people won't just mindlessly hand over money for anything (sometimes). At £60 the tickets are overpriced (and I think there were more expensive tickets than that). I'd pay upwards of 60 at a smaller venue but not Hampden - where u'll barely be able to see him.

BBC4 has a John Lennon night this Friday.

According to the newspaper TV listings I have it says there is a Classic Albums programmes for both Plastic Ono Band, and Imagine. But the Sky listings only show the Plastic Ono one!?

Cool - I'll set the Sky +. Gimmie Some Truth was on Sky Arts HD a few nights back. Very interesting.

Plastic Ono Band and Imagine are the only 2 Lennon albums worth bothering with IMHO. I bought Double Fantasy a few years back and with the exception of a few great singles, it's pretty shit. Mainly due to it being polluted with pretentious Yoko waffle.

Yeah, I dont agree with all this talk about "Lennon would be recording with the Chemical Brothers if he was alive" etc - was widely written about post Anthology. I dont think he would be. He was a rock and roller and got more old school as he got older.

it just seemed unusually accurate....

as often as not, these things are full of holes historically...

plus, for me, emotionally, it resurrected lots of my growing up. It was a little (only a little, mind you  ) before my time, but the family 'issues' reverberated rather strongly.

The acting was pretty faultless...

Parts of it are very tough to watch though.

    • Ok, ok, I have done it! Not because of limitless upvoats but to support the Efestivals site.
    • She was/is 100% in the mix, but I don't know specific timings and how it relates to that interview. They've clearly gone after her, again.   It could be read in a number of ways - she was in negotiations at that point, she was talking about BST (and he's interpreted it, as we have, as Glastonbury). Who knows
    • So sad to see the news that John Douglas of the Trashcan Sinatras has died. They only released their latest album last week and it is wonderful.  So underrated and a member of such a great long running band that have meant so much to me over the last 40 years. https://trashcansinatras.com/blogs/news/john-douglas-1963-2026
    • listening to jamie east's podcast earlier he said that he'd heard fender is confirmed, and that as of 2 weeks ago Madonna hadn't been approached.
    • which would make that Graham Norton interview nonsense .... although obviously things change
