next year will be my first festival and more importantly my first glasto as my parents made me wait until i am 15 before i could go to a festival.

so please could i have some advice like what to take, where to camp, what are the loos like, cheapest places to buy things (food/drink/clothing/ect) and is there anywhere for someone obviously underage to get booze, and anything else i left out

any advice or tips?

Well on wednesday morning the portables are usually ok but by the end of the weekend they stink to high heaven and are horrible to use. The longdrops are your safest bet, they are usually the cleanest and the Urinals aswell (Presuming you are a bloke). If you ever need a shit, then go in the longdrops not the portaloos!

Hope this helps and if you have any more questions feel free to ask.

Cheers,

I think the toilets are great!

I would choose the long drops over portaloos anyday!

Portaloos = a load of shit a few inches from your ass in a plastic box where the smell can't escape.

Long drops = 2 ton of shit 6 feet from your ass in a big tank with a small cubicle that is nicely ventilated. I actually thought the smell was a bit 'marmitey'.

The choice is easy surely?

Just to get toilets out of the way....

We camp in ***** (not telling where or you'll all be there and it's IMHO the best spot on the whole of the fest site) and they have flushing toilets that were still spotless on Monday morning.

As for money, you can get away with very little if you take your own food and drink and largely self-cater. But then you've got the issue of lugging everything to your chosen camping spot. A trolley can make a huge difference (lots of threads and advice on trolleys if you hunt around this board).

Booze costs you can calculate yourself but again the advice about taking your own if there is an age problem makes sense. Food prices vary but top whack for a really good blowout veggie curry is around £5.95. You'll get more for your money away from the crowded areas in the Green Field areas.

That's survival. Other than that it's treats and shopping - there are hundreds of stalls selling clothing, arts and crafts.

Other advice for a first timer. Staying dry and warm can make a big difference so take sensible rainwear. The site is huge so you'll do miles and miles of walking so make sure you've got some sensible, comfortable walking boots. Stuff pretty footwear and wellies. Follow the advice on other threads about boots.

Also really explore the site. There's this oft repeated phrase that Glastonbury isn't just about the music. But it's really true. There's so much to see and experience that it's worth the walk up and away from the main stage areas.

Finally, because music is part of the fest, be aware that there is quite a distance between stages and you need to plan who you are going to see and allow time to get from place to place. You'll get that sense if you walk the site on Wednesday and Thursday but be aware that when it's crowded and particularly it it's wet you'll need to allow extras time to move around.

Have a good one.

    • So we've signed a Horny Czech, and Bruno's turned up the training camp instead of doing Isak's nonsense.   Still not sure I believe Bruno's staying mind, but glad he's not doing the sh*t Arsenal are asking him to do to lower the price. If they want him they can stump up.   My suspicion is that whichever of Madrid/Man City don't start next season with Rodri will go for Bruno, and one of them will come in while Arsenal have f**ked about trying to get him cheap, which while I absolutely want to keep him, would still be good enough bants and a nice middle finger that I wouldn't mind it so much. I just wish we'd report Arsenal for tapping up.   If rumours are to be believed, we're after 2 more defensive signings, and an attacking player, on top of a replacement if Bruno leaves, having already signed a LW, 2 CMs, a GK, and some youth players. Huge churn, but apart from a couple of Bazou Toure's games for Ivory Coast at the world cup, I've not seen any of them play. Over 2 summers we've basically changed our entire team aside from the CBs.
    • I think the level of headliners Bloodstock get is varied    There's been bands who have gone on to play Download in quite a low spot like Meshuggah, Behemoth, Opeth etc.    Then they've had years like 2025 where you can argue that all three headliners are download main stage sub level    Knocked Loose right now i'd argue are 3rd down on main/opus headliner level while EC and FFDP are borderline main stage sub
    • Yeah Roy's Tune was lovely. Looking forward to the whole thing hopefully going on iPlayer.   It's scattered dates they have this year really, proper tour/s to come next year - suspect a new single will drop in the next couple of months, providing the album is done.
