Oh and by the way, I've done a few Ozfests, turned up in tshirt, boardies and flip flops, (okay bad footwear choice) and not felt unwelcome. Are we really going to engage in an argument about who is welcome at 'our festival'?

In Italian it's called "fare le corna" - "to make the horns".

I think metal - be it thrash, rock, prog or whatever - is a lot more mainstream than it used to be. When I was a young 'un you were either a metaller or not. I think the stance Glasto takes still reflects that, whereas these days people "can" like metal and other music forms.

Far enough Russycarps. Open mind, and all that.

Although their S&M album is all a bit "I've always wanted to do a collection of my acoustic numbers with, the London Philharmonic as you know" ....

I love all there stuff, Kill em all ride the lightening ect. But in my opinion the black album and load and reload are my favs. St anger wasn't my thing but Death magnetic was awesome.

If they did play 95% of the crowd will love them guarenteed, and they've got so much variety in there setlist.

That's when they started to be produced by the same bloke who used to produce Def Leppard and Bryan Adams, no? And knocking out elevator music?

They were at there best when they knocked "Welcome Home", "Fade to Black", "Battery", "Damage Inc", "Creeping Death" for my money. Any song about the book of Exodus set to original bay area thrash has got to be a highlight.

Anyhow, I wrote a blog item on this ages ago. It still holds true (although Death Magnetic was a bit better, I admit)

Would be immense and what a diverse mix if it was something like Radiohead Friday, Metallica Saturday, Faithless Sunday for example, fantastic!

I think the "no rock" policy is perhaps wearing thin these days, obviously understand and appreciate the circumstances it was first introduced but you would get just a bad circle pit for F**ked Up, Prodigy etc as Metallica,

Death Magnetic brings them right back to form and they are still a very relevant band IMO.

Bring on Sonicsphere, NIN and Metallica.....Stick a fork in me, I'm done.

they would deliver 100 % and surprise many people, even those not interested in metal. I have seen them many times and despite their recent output (especially the few before Death Magnetic) not being up to the usual metallica standard, they are still one of the best live bands around. no matter how long they are around for you'll never find a metallica concert where the audience doesn't leave 100 % satisfied.

Yes Lars Ulrich is a right cock, but that doesn't deflect from the fact that they are one of the best live bands around and definitely worthy of headline slot at Glasto.

Yes. But James is one of the best front men in rock history. And he can f**king CANE a guitar too. New bass player is shit hot. They would rock Glasto big time. Lets start a petition!
