Pendulum

So assuming that the Special Guests slot is 6th on the Radiohead day, I'm not sure if it will be Pendulum. Surely they're too big to be that low? And they're certainly bigger than Brand New, Vampire Weekend and YYYs. I'd have thought that if they were to play they'd be about 3rd/4th.

The only way I can think of this being true is if Pendulum personally asked FR to play anywhere on the bill and FR slotted them in wherever was possible, a la RATM in 2000.

I personally dont belive it for one second

They are too huge to be that low down, I thought their position last year was too low but it suited the tent.

Also if Faith no more are going to be announced on Monday why would we then have a special guest from download?

I think its a band who carnt be named until their tour runs out or something along those lines

If it's a Download band it will be Pendulum.

For the simple reason that historicly the deal between Reading/Leeds and Download is that R/L can announce acts playing Download as long as their not playing high on the main stage. YouMeAtSix are playing the 2nd stage at Download, so can be announced whenever. Pedulum are (for some reason) third from top on the main stage, so won't be announced til Download is over.

If it was YMA6 why would they be special guest when The Prodigy and Billy Talent have already been announced?!

... Unless the special guests are Limp Bizkit B)

Pendulum are an amazing live band, so much energy, and you cant really appreciate the music they make untill you have seen it live, sounds a lot better live. I dunno how they would sound on an outdoor stage however. I've seen them twice at the o2 academy in newcastle, probs 2000 people max and once at the NME stage at leeds last year. Each time they wee excellent.

I don't think they will play this year however, I'm thinking another year another album and if its sucessful then theyll be higher up main stage or rado1/nme headliner next year.

They are playing 2nd on CH4 stage the week before at V and general rule is V acts can't play L/R and vice versa unless they playing in the strongbow or bacardi tents at V (thats the only exceptions I have seen as The whip last year played strongbow tent at V and dance stage at leeds)

So I would say no not really.....

After last years performance I would say that Pendulum would be too big for a 6th slot. They would be more likely to headline a tent, or maybe 3rd from top o nthe main stage but don't know if they are big enough for that yet. They have only had two albums out. I think we could see another album out this year before festival season then a few performances headlining smaller stages or supporting the headliners.

Too far down the bill to play, they PACKED out the NME tent last year. I still think they deserved a higher slot, if Klaxons headlined in '07, Pendulum could of headlined in '08. Can't see them playing, saw them last year - wish i'd gone to Feeder!

  • 4 weeks later...

I don't get why they're a SR

okay i could've imagined them headlining the dance tent but they're playin Get Loaded in the Park on the sunday

and surely they wouldn't play like 2nd on main?!?!

Neil, any evidence for them being a SR?

    • It sounds like Feeder drew a crowd too big for that stage originally. Given the time period they haven’t appeared at Download as well it's a nostalgia thing. Halestorm vs Feeder wasn't the most ideal but leaving after either to get out would have been sweet at least.
    • You cant see everything unfortunately, it would be Halsey there for me 100%, the last 20/25 of Gorillaz. Halsey would be my non negotiable act on that day myself. Oddly Bleech 9:3 would actually give me an option I wouldn't mind between 3:15pm and Halsey. Dogstar would only likely be a 10 minutes thing of I've seen Keanu lol.
    • I think the tent was just right for Feeder, on that day anyway.   If you had a Biffy-esque day again, or someone of that ilk (maybe Pearl Jam for example), whack them on that main stage. 100%.    As it is, I think feeder will be back and probably high up the second stage or main stage next year or 2028.
    • I think we still have 2 acts to announce each day, maybe one more big name to complete the lineup?   Perhaps the big name is Turnstile on Thursday, which isn't sold out yet. And some other names that could be added like Iceage, Band of Horses or Tomora.
    • Saw David Gray 8 times between 2000 and 2025 (including one solo acoustic performance in Wexford, IE, 2017) and he always delivered. I enjoyed every show, never felt bland or let down an iota. To each their own. Yeah, it’s just that he’s not your cup of tea I’m afraid.   Agree that David is a bad dancer though lol.
