Comparing positiion on different stages

It is very hard to tell. Manics could have been second/ 3rd last year, where as the Cribs I doubt could have even pulled 4th on the Main Stage.

So you've given a good average.

Also I could see the FR headliner sometimes being 1st/ 2nd Main stage.

Its a difficult one to cal,l manics last album went ot number 2 which suggests they do have a pretty huge following. They are deifintly more popular in this countyr than soad, nin, smashing pumpkins, pearl jam , offspring and qotsa who have all played in thew top 2 slots ain recent years. However i suspect that with their populairty peaking int he late 90s a lot fo their fans arent going to the festival anymore. They played 3rd in glasto a couple of years back which sound about right to me.

Wrong.

Manics would have been 4th on the main stage last year. They haven't got the following to take a top 3 slot any more.

And I don't think any FR headliner has ever been big enough to get to 2nd on mainstage.

if you look at the posts on these pages from happy punters when FNM were announced you'd find that there are still a few people going to the festival who dont give a f**k who's fasionable and who's not.the ones worried about being fashionable will be watching KOL.coming to think of it,when FNM were at their peak they wernt fasionable, only outsiders and weirdos watched them,ha ha.(and me)

WRONG!

unlike heavy weights of rock such as bloc party, the fratellis, the raconteurs or tenacious d?

the manics still have a huge following, i imagine their new album will go to number 1 (i believe all of the lyrics were written by richey edwards?) as have several of their other albums.

manics could easily be second on any festival bill.

robx

I would agree with that in my opinion though smashing pumpkins are at the same level as pearl jam in this county, it appeanred to me both drew similar size crowds at leeds which were both below an average headlining band at a festival. I would say both are however are of similar popularity in the uk meaning neither would headline the r1 tent.

As for pixies i would say they were slightly better known than fnm. I think they could headline nme tent but a few years ago i seemed to be really fashionable to liek the band which is why they headlined everywhere. I dont think faith no more are as fashioable as the pixies.

Im sorry but theres no way that anyone can claim that pearl jam, smashing pumpkins or faith no more are more popular in the uk than arctic monkeys or kol. They may be able to charge more for tickets because they do far less tour dates which drives demand up but arctic momkeys and kings of leon both blow any of these bands out of the water when it comes to uk record sales.

because it's no longer than the 90s ^

leona lewis and take that sell more in the uk than am and kol. record sales mean f*** all nowadays tbh, it's just a big arse marketing machine. if people wanna swarm like flies and watch bands just because they are popular - let them. there's no way at all the music scene of the 00's is a patch on that of the 90s............

    • The Great Fete Festival (Sunday Only) Ocean Colour Scene day on Tickets For Good.
    • I was also at Ghost but seated. When they scanned my ticket's and they came up as seated they printed a small ticket with the seat number info.
    • I was standing for Ghost at O2 London last year where they put the phone in a pouch beforehand so I assume they're is a mechanism in place for people in seats.
    • Most likely not, keeping an eye on Tixel and Twickets might be the best option.
