Bad news peeps.

The official word is this:-

"V Festival organisers can confirm that Seasick Steve is now no longer able to commit to play V Festival 2009 and will not be performing at this year’s festival. News of several further exciting additions to the line-up will be confirmed shortly.

Well can someone please tell me why V haven't bothered to inform anyone and ticket sales on registered reseller websites are still plugging him alongside the others.

Interestingly I have heard from a mate his website never listed V Fesitval as an appearance, so how confirmed he was when they began ticket sales is debatable!

Thanks efestivals for doing V's job and telling us

Ah but true to form it will be someone crap like S Club 7 or some such rubbish.

Have asked the Seasick Steve website if they know owt but nothing since last night.

Still that means I'm gonna have to wait another year to see him! Hopefully they'll switch on and stick someone like Newton Faulkner on the V Stage as a near like for like replacement.

All festival line-ups are always subject to change. If/when a band does disappear, it's normal for just about any festival promoter to not say anything about it.

To be fair to V, they've removed it from their website, and as that's the official place for people to find up-to-date info about the festival, they've done things properly. It takes a while for the info to disseminate - it took efests a few days to pick up on it.

As for whether it was on a bands website or not, I really don't think you can take too much from that - performer websites are sometimes weeks behind in listing dates.

I realise acts are subject to change, but a big act disappearing less than 14 days after the tickets went on sale? Bit dodgy. Like I said I expect this around May time but not this early.

It's incredible, sun's shining, leaving work in 10 mins, I'm on my motorbike and I'm feeling gutted because I won't be hearing some blues a few months from now - how ironic is that?

If he does turn up at Reading/Leeds I think V need to take a long hard look at the way this has gone. One of the artists on the first announcement pulls out then turns up at another fest the week later. Even if there is nothing dodgy about it, it looks really bad.

I think (hope) that we've got our fair share of pop now, how about something cool and edgy?

Its happened before in recent years, both Charlotte Hatherly and Lightspeed Champion confirmed for V then pulled out to do Reading and Leeds instead, V seem like pushovers, you never hear of any acts pulling out of Reading and Leeds to play V

Well I've not really lost out in terms of buying a ticket - did that last year after got home from V '08, but he's one of the few acts I haven't seen in last 2 years. In fact I've never seen him which is what is so bloody annoying.

Probably the only act I haven't seen that I really wanted to see. I never buy a ticket purely for one band/artist but he was definitely one of the major reasons I bought a ticket. Can't imagine they will find a suitable similar act to replace.

Just been speaking to my friend Kat, she is daytripping the Saturday with two friends - they chose Saturday as Seasick was going to be there and they fancied seeing The Killers. Now they wish they were doing Sunday instead :-(

Three more people who have said they will consider going elsewhere in 2010 - congrats V you are making it harder for me to get people to turn up year in year out!

Although this is a pain in the arse at least it has given me time to go and see him elsewhere, last year bands were dropping out on the day which screwed up all the timetables and we missed bands we wanted to see.

The good newes is at least I don't have to get up too early!

Best I get my tickets for Hyde Park Calling
