Stereophonics & Razorlight Sayurday

Compared with Razorlight, Charlatans and Stereophonics the Pistols are a mega act. They practically defined a musical genre. I think you're right and he must be saving all his pennies for Sunday.

the most hilarious thing about this is the banner on the isle of wight fest home page that says

'rock n roll icons to share the light'

did i miss when razorlight became icons?

i do find the announcement very amusing. dont get me wrong i like both bands, and will be happy to see them again, but headline? hmm no.

i think the line up would work well if it was razorlight on 3rd last then phonics and then a HEADLINE act.

this years line up is a bit weak, and lets be honest giddings hasnt really done much hard work in booking people.

prodigy, phonics and razorlight have all played iow before, so it would have a lot easier to get them to return.

please pull it out the bag for sunday giddings. u2 will make up for this, as they will be an absolutely massive name to bag. purely as they never play festivals and are soo big. fingers crossed

I think the Stereophonics are top notch live band and fair's fair they are worthy of a spot atop of one of the nights. Im not too keen on Razrolight but Kelly Jones has one of the best voices around and Im sure the atmosphere will be great when the Phonics start rattling out the old classics

absolutely spot on.

I fail to see how anyone could be disappointed having a band as big as Stereophonics as headliners. IOW will be my 4th time seeing them and I don't plan on stopping there either, they are unbelievable live.

Razorlight I am still undecided about.

Deffo big enough a few years ago. Not now though. 2nd headliner at best.

I'll happily watch em but if someone dirty gets announced for the big top ill scoot over there and get me rocks off to them.

    • What is too old for Leeds Fest now ?  I'm going to the Fontaines Saturday in a few weeks at 54 !!!  I may be the oldest there 🙂    Wythenshawe may be an option for WA.
    • Pretty much all festivals lose out on major artists because of production limitations though. Glastonbury is no different to most other festivals.  Lots of acts can/will adapt their tour production to suit festival stages if they want to play them, but some acts with stage designs and routines just don't want to adapt, and would rather just stick with a rigid, well-rehearsed production and take the money for their own gigs, whether that's a lot more than playing Glastonbury, or slightly less than playing some other festivals (but with added complications). Trying to adapt the stage, layout, access to b-stages etc to accommodate a single headliner on a Friday and then having to change it all around for a Saturday headliner isn't really a goer when most headliners can just easily adapt their show to stay on a main stage, if they're so inclined. They have a year to figure out how to perform a song on a main stage and ditch a few dance routines out on a b-stage if they really put their mind to it. It's not that difficult......
    • I would be all over Wolf Alice but may have outgrown this venue.    Also have to consider the schedule they have been on this year so may be on a break.  This last 10 days alone they did Tramlines, New York, Chicago and Kendal Calling.  Although make hay while the sun shines may come into play.
