The day splits are shaping up quite nicely at the moment. Just hoping Meshuggah don't have a clash with anyone though. And Down, for that matter.

Stone Gods opening main stage Sunday?

From rushonrock.com

With the next wave of Download 2009 acts set to be announced very soon we’ve heard a whisper that current darlings of the UK rock scene Stone Gods are set to play the final day of this year’s festival - dubbed ‘Classic Rock Sunday’.

Although remaining tight-lipped about their summer festival commitments as recently as last weekend it appears the band has been lined up to play an early slot on the main stage this summer. But with the likes of Def Leppard, Whitesnake, ZZ Top and Journey already confirmed to play soft metal’s Super Sunday competition to join these rock gods is intense.

One member of a band which has previously played the original Monsters Of Rock festival admitted: “The resurgence of interest in classic rock acts at Download this year is great news for a lot of bands who played Donington first time around. You look at bands like Tesla getting added to the bill this month and there’s a lot of us keen to join a limited guest list at the party. There’s a lot of managers making a lot of calls right now.”

It seems Stone Gods are nailed on to join that party. Watch this space. And look out for an exclusive Stone Gods interview on rushonrock later this week.

looking at those lists, my must sees for each day are pretty much:

Friday: Faith No More, Opeth, Meshuggah

Saturday: Down, Prodigy(?)

Sunday: Karma To Burn, Clutch

obviously a hella load more bands i wanna see, but they're the main contenders so far.

Im hoping *everything crossed* that black tide are playing and if they do I reckon they will play the 2nd stage under trivium on the sunday...if they do count me in

Another obvious one, but Tesla are confirmed to be playing on the Sunday. Now up on their official website

Hell, that's ANOTHER good band for the Sunday! Shaping up to be a kick ass day for bands, perhaps not so good for potential clashes.
