Remember last year, 2008, the best one in years etc? Well Jackone had this report on the 19th June last year (scale was 1-5 then):

Summary

There really is a major difference between the control run and the ensembles,

The control shows unsettled conditions, I'll stick with a 2 forecast for the festival, indicting a higher than average chance of a wet festival.

However the ensembles make this very uncertain, with the best ensembles runs seen since Monday.

As you can see, plenty of room for change and on Glasto Tuesday last year we had this

The score is therefore reverting to a 2, with more chance of a unsettled festival than a heat wave, however it all depends on the rain late Thursday into Friday, if this rain misses Glastonbury, then the conditions should be generally not that bad.

He got it BANG on, rain Thurs into Friday - that was a 2 or a 4 on the 1-10 scale. I make a 6 good at the moment.

Don't forget, last year was a 1-5 scale so that 2 is a 4 on this years scale. So, that means that a 6 is half as good again. That said it's the weather

On Metcheck the weather in Shepton Mallet is 2 degrees hotter than Pilton.

2006 was soggy

2007 was awash

2008 was slightly soft

2009 gonna be a belter!

models are still playing around with this low on friday and into the week-end, none of them are sure quite how the high will regress....east or north east

there will deffo be no surety until tuesday I reckon

what we can be sure of is a fab opening to the festival I think

What you talking about? We were just talking earlier about how its always dry on the Wednesdays. And that we always get lulled into it being lovely only for it to F*** up on the thursday night/friday morning.

For the Wednesday to the Friday, it is set to be mainly dry, very warm with only the outside chance of a shower, into the weekend, and the GFS is quite progressive in bringing in unsettled and potentially wet weather. The ECM is slightly less keen on this although it is slowly set to turn less settled with increasing chance of a shower. The ensembles keep the pressure higher over the UK than either of ECM and GFS, restricting further the chance of wet weather.

You know how they've built a retractable roof to go over Centre Court at Wimbledon this year, in case it rains? Do you reckon it would cost much to do the same thing over Glastonbury?

but it is gonne be hot this year-I bought new wellies,

2003 - dry Wednesday.

2004 - rained on Wednesday.

2007 - very soggy ground Wednesday after crazy Tuesday weather, and rained on queueing.

2008 - rained on queueing on Wednesday.

That's what I was talking about - the absence of insecurity about the first few days is a luxury this year.

Been on site today at another festival with somebody who's been working on the build in Pilton and he was saying how great it had been both for the site and the workers to have such great weather in the run up and how it means the build is very advanced.

Also, I got bought some gorgeous purple Hunters for my birthday after years of having rubbish wellies. I am dying to wear them. This almost certainly means it will be an absolute scorcher and they will stay unworn in my tent
