WEATHER 2009 !

It seems far too early at the moment to tell. Even that netweather forecast changes dramatically, from a complete washout predicted on the 17th down to light patches of rain on the 22nd. The weather reports before the glade last year were terrible up until we left, and then it was pretty much sunny all weekend.

Listen...

(or rather read)

i know a thing or 2 about weather...it's kind of my thing.

it is worth pointing out to you that it is impossible to predict weather for any location from a month in advance...i think the most accurate and longest time from the event we can predict is 8 days - even then...it is likely to change.

It may or may not rain - there really is nothing we can do about it.

However...based on typical readings from the past, when we have had really cold winters...(such as 2008/09) they are more than often followed by a hot summer.

So a glimmer of hope for you all.

The problem with a good build up is that its guarenteed to break the day before the fest - it happened in 04 bigtime, cracking couple of weeks leading up to the fest & then Bang! Heavy showers & crazy wind whilst putting up your tent! If we do get a dry build up then its real brown trousers time hoping the weather holds for just a while longer

This time last year the forecast was similar with a generally pessimistic outlook, but i've got to say we were VERY LUCKY last year to get away it, the rest of the summer was diabolical. This is Jackones summary from May 25 LAST YEAR

Summary

The recent trend for improving weather for June has been reversed somewhat with the High Pressure becoming less dominant and more restricted to Scandinavia, with this week seeing more rainfall expected and temperatures lower than last time. However the general pattern in the weather has been consistent to some extent.

The forecast for July has taken a big downturn this week, with much lower temperatures, and unsettled conditions now likely, the synoptic pattern previously mentioned is very undesirable for summer in the UK, and is very reminiscent of last summer. Indeed the forecast for July is now worse than that of June.

Looking at the forecast for June, there will be times when the High pressure to the NE gives warm sunny conditions, with also at times, low pressure pushing in from the west giving some rain possibly stalling at its meets the high Pressure, with the chance of some thundery outbreaks as it does so.

The worsening conditions for July suggest that the end of the June is looking rather more unsettled than the beginning which is not good news for the Glastonbury festival.

So on a sliding scale of 1-5, with 1 being a washout and 5 a warm sunny festival, this rates a 2, with a definite indication of a wet festival being more likely than a dry one. However, there will still be some dry spells in June and hopefully we will be lucky.

However remember this is a very early estimation and the forecast is likely to change from run to run.

As an comparison,

Last week's published forecast (May 9) rated a 3, with slight indication of a dry festival.

The third published forecast (May 9) rated a 3, with slight indication of a dry festival.

The second published forecast (May 2) rated a 3, with slight indication of a wet festival.

The first published forecast (April 25) rated a 4

The previous week's look at the charts (April 18) rated a 3

We are now about 4 weeks away from the festival and moving into GFS timeframes and in future weeks, we will try to give a more specific weekend forecast for Glastonbury.

There is still time to change but the chances of a totally dry festival are starting to look slim.

Just to make it clear the above was LAST YEARS forecast in May.

When I was sitting in the sun this weekend I was actually thinking 'I hope it isn't this hot at Glastonbury', it would be a nightmare. It was literally too hot to move, never mind waking up in a tent in that heat I think I would be partially cooked. I hope that it is warm with the occasional cloudy section to cool us all off.

    • So we've signed a Horny Czech, and Bruno's turned up the training camp instead of doing Isak's nonsense.   Still not sure I believe Bruno's staying mind, but glad he's not doing the sh*t Arsenal are asking him to do to lower the price. If they want him they can stump up.   My suspicion is that whichever of Madrid/Man City don't start next season with Rodri will go for Bruno, and one of them will come in while Arsenal have f**ked about trying to get him cheap, which while I absolutely want to keep him, would still be good enough bants and a nice middle finger that I wouldn't mind it so much. I just wish we'd report Arsenal for tapping up.   If rumours are to be believed, we're after 2 more defensive signings, and an attacking player, on top of a replacement if Bruno leaves, having already signed a LW, 2 CMs, a GK, and some youth players. Huge churn, but apart from a couple of Bazou Toure's games for Ivory Coast at the world cup, I've not seen any of them play. Over 2 summers we've basically changed our entire team aside from the CBs.
    • I think the level of headliners Bloodstock get is varied    There's been bands who have gone on to play Download in quite a low spot like Meshuggah, Behemoth, Opeth etc.    Then they've had years like 2025 where you can argue that all three headliners are download main stage sub level    Knocked Loose right now i'd argue are 3rd down on main/opus headliner level while EC and FFDP are borderline main stage sub
