As I THINK I understand it, the Red Flag has always been run semi-independently from the WBC, sort of like an autonomous sub-branch with some WBC help for general technical infrastructure, but with choice of ales and maintenance of them down to the Red Flag managers themselves. Not sure of these details though, could be wrong ...

Personally, I don't even want to know what ales are on sale beforehand. The surprise on the day will all be part of the fun.

Wish the Red Flag opened on Wednesday (it doesn't). Our shifts on Weds are Noon to 4, whereas on Thurs, we have to restrain ourselves at the noon meet to some extent as we have to go on duty at 8 pm ...

Oh well! :(

Timespeedsup, see ya thee and everyone :(

See you noon next Thursday folks B) and have a great, hopefully SUNNY festival.

We're off to Glastonbury Town tomorrow, no doubt taking in the Riflemans Arms and other ale friendly establishments during our short Solstice visit, before heading onsite on Monday. Crew perks! B)

TIP FOR REAL ALE LOVING GLASTOBATERS!

Tesco currently has Fursty Ferret, Hobgoblin and Old Speckled Hen in cans on offer - 2 four-packs for £8. That actually pretty good value - I just bought my festival supplies (and I'll buy them again next week when I've accidentally drunk them all and need to replace them....)

Well I can report that the training programme is going well - after visiting my little brother's uni student union on Friday night, then a friend's bbq last night.. My body is getting used to not managing to clear the alcohol before the next day's session starts, which is something it's going to have 5 days of next week ^_^ Wait a minute.. it's Sunday... THIS WEEK ^_^

Right, I'm off to the pub!

Can anyone offer some advice on kegs - my mate bought about 20 bottles of ale before remembering the no glass rule. An option is to pour it into a homebrew type of plastic keg, but how long would it stay drinkable? We would put a wet towel on it to cool it.

Cheers!

    • Either or. They both play the same venues.

    • Interesting to read. It's mostly why we stopped going a few years back even though it's the nearest big festival to home. The post-exams timing and location makes it a rites of passage first festival for people in a big area. Understandably that leads to a bit of giddiness. Think lineup would need to be a lot more my cup of tea to be enticed back. Friends who are there are having a good time tho and no rain is a good thing for up there.
    • I honestly didn't know it had, I still thought it was where the view overlooked the lake and view.   I think my decision not to attend this year at least was justified. Biffy was the big draw but after Finsbury I knew they wouldn't play what I want to hear again and well work also got in the way. Believed interesting to hear if Libertines were any good as they were also a pull but Sunday did nothing for me really with all my acts on Friday and Saturday.
