has anyone been to pinkpop? i emailed them about taking cannabis and truffles and got this response:

According to the Dutch law it’s prohibited to have drugs or to sell/buy drugs. According on the Zero Tolerance policy it’s prohibited to bring drugs on the festival. The police and organisation will search luggage on this.

Best regards,

Buro Pinkpop

maybe not the chilled out festival i would have hoped for. may just stick to one more local instead unless someone can confirm that this is all rubbish!?

It's legal to carry your own personal share (5gr.) of soft drugs in the Netherlands. And normally this won't be a problem at any festival (Lowlands festival still says it's ok), but the last few years we see more and more organisers using the Zero Tolerance policy. Which actually means no soft or hard drugs at all. I'm not sure how security is at Pinkpop, but I've seen festivals where soft drugs has been taken from you at the entrance.

Looks like there could some issues with Depeche Mode playing at Pinkpop this weekend. They've had to cancel some shows as Dave Gahan has been ill (in hospital I think) and the organisers and band are going to make a decision this afternoon. One of the promoters went on Dutch radio station 3FM this morning to say that if they don't play then they'll be replaced by Oasis or the Prodigy (I think it was either and not both, the translation website I use was a bit vague :) ).

    • I'm surprised they risked it, especially after nearly missing their Glasto 22 slot under similar circumstances  I did see someome say Ellie didnt sound as strong as recently but I'm guessing playing 3 shows in 2 different continents doesnt help that    On the topic though I can definitely see them doing a Fontaines and having a break over winter before a few final Clearing shows next summer
    • That's fair on WA - I did recall people thinking Fontaines would take this year off before this was announced.    On the subject of Wolf Alice, they did Lollapalooza in Chicago on Saturday then Kendal Calling last night. Bit of an odd choice, no? Half imagine at Kendal that they would've been just exhausted.
    • Just logged onto the app to start planning my days and there really are a LOT of stages missing. Apart from the Seaside Stage there is no Casemates this year etc. Apart from the Seaside Stage, there are no Casemates this year, etc. Can't see anything about the kids field really. And there's local acts that are normally there like Kojak's Revenge that aren't appearing either.  Normally we get down fairly early but I can't see anything before 3pm I'm keen to see. Only one real clash as well, which is good, but it's thin and it's not thin in the sense of "I've seen a lot of these acts before"
