Well you've either very definitely misheard, mis remembered or misunderstood.

Scientists already know that protons are made up of smaller particles

Scientists already know how to find where a proton is because it lives in the nucleus of the atom. The uncertainty most definitely is to do with the position of the electron

This is not that easy to understand but its best I can find. What you are trying to do, I suspect, is apply the same laws to the quantum world as the non-quantum world. If you manage, Id make a big hullaballoo because you'll have found the unified theory scientists are looking for but dont even know if it exists :P

I'm doing naff all but repeating what a doctor of quantum physics said in the programme I saw last night ("how long is a piece of string").

They fired a single proton thru a card with two slim slots, via which they said it showed that the proton existed in more than one place at once, because it could be shown to go thru both slits in the card.

It's possible that I misheard or misunderstood (tho I don't think I did), but I'm defo not trying to put any interpretation on what I saw.

Paulevs - you saw it too. Have I got it wrong?

Look it's very simple...

The universe consists of a wide variety of things which are made of smaller things. Those smaller things comprise of things which are even smaller. The things which are even smaller are in turn made of things even smaller than that. Apparently the things made up of things even smaller than that are also made of things even smaller still than the even smaller than that things.

The LHC is gong to smash even smaller than that things together to see if the even smaller things still actually exist. However I would imagine that what they will find is f**king annoying things which seem to be smaller than anything small they have already found.

    • I'm surprised they risked it, especially after nearly missing their Glasto 22 slot under similar circumstances  I did see someome say Ellie didnt sound as strong as recently but I'm guessing playing 3 shows in 2 different continents doesnt help that    On the topic though I can definitely see them doing a Fontaines and having a break over winter before a few final Clearing shows next summer 
    • That's fair on WA - I did recall people thinking Fontaines would take this year off before this was announced.    On the subject of Wolf Alice, they did Lollapalooza in Chicago on Saturday then Kendal Calling last night. Bit of an odd choice, no? Half imagine at Kendal that they would've been just exhausted.
    • Just logged onto the app to start planning my days and there really are a LOT of stages missing. Apart from the Seaside Stage there is no Casemates this year etc. Apart from the Seaside Stage, there are no Casemates this year, etc. Can't see anything about the kids field really. And there's local acts that are normally there like Kojak's Revenge that aren't appearing either.  Normally we get down fairly early but I can't see anything before 3pm I'm keen to see. Only one real clash as well, which is good, but it's thin and it's not thin in the sense of "I've seen a lot of these acts before"
