  1. Got to be Dua vs Macca right? It’s unusual to have two contemporaries on at the same time so Dua against Kendrick and especially Billie doesn’t make sense.

    2021 New Music

New electronic goodness from TEED and George Fitzgerald
  3. I’m skeptical of the mental health support in one month idea. That’s going to take a lot of resource and money to meet that target. In principle a great idea, but the investment needed would be enormous.
  4. Absolutely bonkers. Whilst Labour aren’t exactly covering themselves in glory at the moment, an actual fuel crisis occurs and the Tories gain in the polls. Baffling.
  5. I’m tepid on the Beatles in general so there’s that too. As @Matt42says it will be a huge party and loads of the fun.
  6. Only missed 2016 since 2009. My friends reassure me it was the worst Glastonbury they’ve been to but I remain unconvinced.
  7. Feels like musical sacrilege to say it but I’d be at Dua Lipa if she were up against McCartney.
  8. Dua Lipa just announced as a headliner for Opener in Poland on the 1st July… Back for an other stage slot, or does she make the jump to the Pyramid?

    Gig Ticket Prices

Christ on a bike. America is a corporate hell hole when it comes to gig tickets.
  10. Big Glastonbury shaped hole there 😬
  11. I meant in terms of the three vinyl version compared to the three vinyl version with the art book which is £40 extra. The only difference being the colour of the vinyl and an art book. That seems excessive to me.
  12. Snap. £40 extra for a £36 page book is greedy imo.

    2021 New Music

New DJ Seinfeld album is great. Shame he released it when summer is over as this is a vibe:
  14. Billie, Macca and Reg whilst undoubtedly a huge trio, is a definite step down for me from the original 2020 lineup. I'm keeping everything crossed that Taylor Swift will tour next year, but I just can't see it happening at this point.

Hopefully not. Psychedelic therapy is becoming a hot topic in mental health research at the moment. Lots of interest in using MDMA, Ketamine and Psilocybin to treat conditions like PTSD and Depression, sometimes as an addition to standard therapy, sometimes as a standalone therapy in itself. Part of some of the treatments involves having trained mental health professionals to sit with you, as well as an appropriate soundtrack for the experience (apparently chill wave) so it's not quite as bizarre as it sounds!

I’m also down for the meditative aspects of this but hoping it’s not too new agey.

Nice. I get the impression that this will be a much more mellow ambient record compared to the previous couple or so. Music for psychedelic therapy doesn't scream glitchy beats to me.
  18. I’m all in on the quick album roll out and kill bill Kacey. Got a feeling this is going to be a great record, she’s not holding back at all. 5pm on El Pointo is where she deserves to be.

    Wolf Alice

Managed to nab two tickets also so I’m bringing two friends as well as my partner. Feel very fortunate! My friend was delighted as they oversold and cancelled his ticket!
  20. Fucking magic. So grateful to have been able to witness it.
  21. Best wishes for everything Neil. Hope they dose you up with some strong painkillers and the X-ray comes back ok.
  22. Thanks for that! Picked up two chic tickets for £23 per ticket. Absolute bargain!

    Lorde

I guess I meant messy in terms of the lyrical themes and what it’s trying to convey; though the music does blend all into one. It just doesn’t feel like it’s hitting the mark in any place. Antonoff does have writing and production credits for most of the songs, so I think it’s fair to assume he’s had some influence on the record. Without it tipping into full on sexism.

    Lorde

Very tepid for me. It seems to lack a coherent theme and the satirising aspect of some of the songs just doesn’t hit home at all for me. It all feels a bit homogenous, within the album itself and Antonoff’s other productions. The placing the microphone close to the guitar strings technique is also grating.
