Friday 17th March. 8.30am. "Here is our first Glastonbury Festival 2023 line-up poster. Following the previously announced Sunday night headliner Elton John. We can confirm this year’s final two Pyramid Stage headliners are Arctic Monkeys (Friday night) and Guns n Roses(Saturday night). We are really pleased to be able to announce that the Sunday teatime legend slot will see us welcome two legendary artists in 2023 with Cat Stevens playing his first ever set at Worthy Farm alongside Blondie who return following a triumphant performance in 2014. Many more acts and attractions still to be announced! Full list in text under the poster. This year’s Festival will support Oxfam, WaterAid and Greenpeace and other worthy causes including the Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal & the Disasters Emergency Committee’s Turkey-Syria Earthquake appeal. Oh I completely agree. Just a little anecdote given we were talking lineups and kitchen tables!

There was a year (I forget which) that the lineup was announced of an evening and Emily had tweeted a picture of her at the kitchen table with a caption along the lines of “putting the finishing touches to the lineup” prior to it coming out an hour later.

Happy to be shouted down but I *think* they tend to come of a morning nowadays. The last I remember coming later on in the day was when the Stones headlined and the poster came out in line with their announcement.

Forgot about that. I too was in that crowd waiting. Heart breaking that they didn’t ever make it back to the farm after that.

You can include me in the Depeche Mode shout from the last page. I know 3 songs of theirs - Enjoy the silence, Personal Jesus and Just can't get enough. I find it utterly bonkers when folk on here suggest them as headliners. Being 33 though that's perhaps not a surprise though given their heyday was seemingly many moons before I entered the world.

Agreed. On the face of it we have been rather spoiled in recent years: Diana Ross Kylie Barry Gibb ELO Lionel Richie Dolly Parton Kenny Rogers Paul Simon Ray Davies Tom Jones I'd say weakest of those is ELO and IMO Blondie sit behind them.

I just don’t want GnR headlining so given Duff has already confirmed they’ll be on the farm I’ve put them in the Legend slot in the vain hope it’s true.

Charging everyone an extra £50 on their ticket which brings in an extra £7million (based on 140k tickets) only to start taking away venues would sting a bit.

If you stick up / coming artists on it throughout the day on Thursday it makes so much more sense. It's a busy area and would give decent exposure to those who wouldn't have previously had it. Brain dead to stick the type of artists that gridlock the entire area.

I spent an entire afternoon in whatever was there before it. They had back to back ska bands on (memory is hazy mind!) Must have been 08 or 09. Vaguely remember it being a pretty large tent where Williams Green is now. *I could be massively wrong on every part of this story due to father time and drugs.

What would .something of an announcement look like? 😂
