  1. i suppose it is a way of getting rid of ticket touts: get them to say 'f**k that!' to the prices
  2. No, you're right. They're turncoat c**ts.
  3. good lord alive, the state of his barnet. Perhaps he has a real thing for medieval haircuts! He should get a lute on his next record and go all out for that look and sound, and chew on a roasted pigeon breast as he does so

    2024 Headliners

I'd far rather the bands i like headline on smaller stages, cos then i might even get close enough to actually see them instead of being on the side of a hill watching video screens! Keep Young Fathers on West Holts so more niche stuff gets seen by people who are bang into it, and the bigger stages can stay with stuff that has more general appeal. Everyone wins, its all good.
  5. I saw em in 08, my Missus of the time was a huuuuge fan so i went along - it was good, i prepped myself by listening to the first three albums (their only albums at the time!) a lot, and im glad i did cos in terms of show and engagement, they weren't really headliners. But they had the tunes šŸ‘ 7/10, was good enough
  6. Cattle Decapitation twice in a week in early march (woop!) Judas Priest in late march Bearded theory in late may glastonbury in late june hellripper/all day metal fest in late august slipknot in december tempted a bit by suicidal tendencies in may at Desertfest too, but not for Ā£60! hoping to get in for something far more reasonable than that . . . .
  7. Yeah, i think you've nailed it. I'm told Emily was a huge fan and gave them a push up to headline in 08 (was it 08? i think it was) and they got a bit worried about headlining a festival, started writing stuff that was a bit bigger and singyalongy, and subsequently became Top Man - for your listening pleasure instead of their previous position of hairy inbred screamy blokes. i far, far prefer the screamy hairy period, ofc - twas ever thus. But thats tainted by association now with the later beige period. I have no idea what they sound like these days, and i have absolutely no inclination to find out.
  8. ooh. Hard to place him at Glastonbury, i'd presume he'd headline, but maybe not the pyramid these days: Other headliner? Subbing the pyramid? I'd bloody love to see him, i'd probs go up to my hard limit of Ā£100 for a gig ticket
  9. I kind of expect to be reamed on ticket and merch prices by AC/DC, cos they dont often play. I definitely expect it from Motley Crue, cos they're all terrible reprehensible bastards (now that Mick Mars isnt in the band). But i presumed Bruce Springsteen and Pearl Jam would be different, cos they've always seemed to have a moral compass and been aware of ticketmaster, tried to keep ticket prices low etc: and have mentioned this in interviews etc - and then they both join the conveyor belt of filthy lucre.
  10. Good question, and a moral can of worms innit? Arcade Fire were discussed elsewhere and they're trying to distance themselves from their allegations (well, the allegations aaginst one member) by disappearing for a bit and slowly weedling their way back: but Till has gone out on his own tour, and Rammstein have a slew of their own dates in the summer, so thats not their approach at all. I dont expect them to appear ever, but i did bloody love hearing Deutschland in the field ahead of Elton John last year šŸ˜ƒ
  11. Some are much more likely than others! LCD Soundsystem (missed em in 2016 cos i fancied Earth wind and fire more on the night - dont regret it, had a great time, but still feel like i owe me one) Mr Bungle Cattle Decapitation PJ Harvey Weezer Rammstein (3am Truth stage surprise set) Run the jewels Ice cube Bodycount Michael Kiwanuka
  12. fkme sideways, that is ridiculous. I thought AC/DC were taking the piss with Ā£130 for wembley and kind of expected stupid prices, but i would have thought Pearl Jam would be a lot more reasonable - somewhere around Ā£75 - not bloody double that and more!
  13. I was at a Toronto Blue Jays baseball game a few years back - 2015 i think - it was about $20 to get in, and i seem to recall it being $15 for a beer (cos i'm sure it came out to over a tenner in Ā£) They had a decent choice of about twelve different beers, and the girl got a bit excited at hearing an English accent cos she tried to push a can of Boddingtons on me šŸ˜„ f**k no, not even if its free! i had an extremely nondescript Alexander Keith's red ale, and a ridiculous footlong hotdog with about twenty different toppings. Game was dull, loved the food though!
  14. great minds! the performance thats really only remembered for its forgettability - Weller followed by The Who, jeeeezz
  15. The Who in 2015 was from out of absolutely nowhere, they had to cancel a show in France to play i believe (they were late replacements for someone who pulled out - presumably Prince)
  16. Ha, weird. I'd love to see Pearl Jam but for the last fifteen years or so every time they're played in the UK i've been doing something else. Lo and behold, i'll be at glastonbury while they'll be at Tottenham, and i'm a Spurs fan as well šŸ˜ its like they enjoy torturing me by always being just out of sight
  17. šŸ˜„ ffs. i'm off to Judas Priest there next month and I wouldnt drink any of those beers, and certainly not for the eleventy billion quid they want for a pint. ill be hip flasking it.
  18. Spirits in pubs and venues etc are ridiculous, and pretty much always shite as well. Iā€™m a poncy hipster whisky twat and Iā€™m not drinking their shite for Ā£6 a shot of Grouse or Bells, Iā€™m sneaking in a hip flask or a couple of miniatures of something nice dammit
  19. Its the way things are going for big gigs, whether i like it or not. So i look at the price, decide if i can justify it to myself, and if i cant then i dont go. I havnt ever paid over a hundred quid for a gig and i cant think of a band that i would pay that for - thats my hard limit. ( i have a similar thing for football tickets too, i feel quite ill going over Ā£60)
  20. That's always Kiss' excuse. I'd be fascinated to know how many tickets they sold for the planned gig at Plymouth before it was shitcanned, i bet it was less than a thousand though
  21. I don't disagree, but if it sells out then i suppose its justified. The only way these kinds of ticket prices come down to more reasonable levels is if we all agree that its just too much, don't bother going, and there's only a couple of hundred people in the crowd. (which i'd love to see, as a spectacle and as a grand gesture)
  22. i quite like the thing in rugby, of a ten minute sin bin with a video ref then deciding if its a red card offence and being able to upgrade it. Can only imagine the shouts of bribery and corruption when the first couple of upgrades happen in a high profile fixture in the prem šŸ˜„
  23. I was looking at volunteering at this, cos at the end of your shift you can head into the golden circle nonsense and get a decent view for essentially a free gig. But the only one i'd even think about seeing would be Stevie Nicks, its significantly slim pickings otherwise (Stevie Wonder apart obvs, who i've already seen a couple of times)
  24. I tweeted this a little while back. I think a few people have made the same (correct, and cutting) observation. I was at Download and saw absolutely shitloads of people wearing Sleep Token tshirts, probably the most popular tshirt on show there ffs! - so on the drive back i bunged them on shuffle to check em out. Almost had to stop at leicester sevices to change it šŸ˜„ They're just not for me. R and B elements with a bit of metal isnt a bad idea, Turnstile have swathes of it and they're great (especially live) but Sleep Token i dont get. But the kids love em! The second most popular t-shirt i saw at Download was probably Five finger death punch and they're absolutely bollocks too, so maybe we should be ignoring the kids šŸ‘
  25. Isnt James Bay the c**t in the Hat? He is for me. oh god, we have an epidemic of earnest, millinered young men with guitars
