  1. ah, i thought me numbers werent going up when i wasnt applying for anything, nothing was particularly appealing! might try and chance my arm for some Men in Pants tickets (thats WWE, fact fans) to make some room in my inbox
  2. Tom's field is a lovely spot. BUT i do look at the slant some of the tents are on, and think sod waking up at the bottom of that! I think thats safe for a while yet, the recycling teams are very much a part of it. stewards, security staff and bar staff will be moving offsite long before the recycling lot.
  3. Its a well placed moan and one that definitely deserves a bit of looking into for more groups of volunteers. There's a bit of a push towards volunteers being outside the fence, which i personally really dont mind - i like being able to drive and have my car in the field next to the campsite, and i also like the quieter air of hubbub that means sleep isnt too tricky - for me the placing of the oxfield is just about perfect. I'd struggle to sleep if it were notably louder, and can definitely see that as a a problem for onsite camping volunteers. Some people think being moved outside the fence is a snubbing and an extra pain in the arse, and there's some kind of truth in that, but its swings and roundabouts. My only real moan is getting fed up going up Muddy Lane at the end of every day, it needs a travelator with some seats for workers with knacked feet! I do need to get better at prioritising rest immediately after a shift - i just want to get out and about, but my feet are tired after standing for eight hours and there i am charging around and standing more, and wondering why its hard getting up and down from the camping bed . . .
  4. Such a strange career. Ridiculously talented and able to absolutely smash through any midfield at the top of his form, but with the free transfers, the colossal transfer fees and the bing bonging between Man Utd and Juventus - its all just so weird. I wish he'd done something else, moved to another country, played for some different clubs, instead of hovering between those two.
  5. There's very few clubs who've had the range of different away grounds that Luton have had, though, the last decade or two most pertinently. Always a new away trip or ten coming up, instead of 75% the same grounds like Arsenal get - keeps things fresh and new
  6. and doubtless sometimes halfway through you think cobblers to this, i'm off to the bar 😄
  7. ffs! i've seen the Flaming Lips 14 times, which i was quite impressed by when i sat down and worked it out. Would happily see them another 14 times as well. But in the hundreds . . . surely they get a night, maybe a sunday show when they're already seen them twice that weekend and have travelled to another city, the band start up and they must surely think: 'i don't really fancy it tonight, i'm off for a pint in the bar . . ' cos i know i bloody would! i am off to see Cattle Decap twice next week, Monday in Brighton and Friday in London, and thats quite a lot of one band in a week 😄 i saw Elvana three times last summer at festivals and that felt like a lot, i was quite Elvana'd out by the time september rolled around

    2024 Headliners

Ha! i don't doubt you, but that's genuinely mindblowing. Appetite for Destruction is one of those albums that even if people hate G n R, they'll know inside out. Its probably a combination of age and demographics etc etc, and the kind of people i know and hhave talked music with, but i'm astonished that KoL could've outsold GnR in the UK! Top Shop have a lot to answer for . . .

    2024 Headliners

Guns n Roses have sold over a hundred million albums, they're in no way comparable to Kings of Leon - who mightve sold at a guess about a tenth of that. I know its a slightly outmoded comparison these days (but i hate going by streams too 😄 i'm very old) but they're not in same ballpark, they aren't even the same sport. Unless that sport is hairy blokes who seriously lost their mojo after a decent run, and subsequently became dreadful.
  10. its a huuuuuge headspace to come from germany and tournament group games, to the countryside and live music - ok they both involve massive crowds of people and colossal amounts of pints, but what a culture change direct from one to the other 😄 i did both in the same summer in 2016, i cant quite believe thats coming up on eight years ago ffs

    2024 Headliners

Oh god, i love Reign In Blood. its magnificent. 28 mins of fast punches to the middle of your chops. You might get on better with Seasons in the abyss or South of heaven, the other two of their perfect three album run from 86-90 - they're slower (i think 99.999% of albums ever released would be slower than RiB, though) and maybe more accessible. An original mint vinyl of it would be a beautiful thing indeed, give it a gloved stroke from me! Glad to hear you didnt call me out for Anthrax slander 😄 i like em, i just think Exodus are far better and have been for decades. Rudely unappreciated, but not in my household 👍 this is spectacularly offtopic, but i wont apologise - we have nowt else to talk about.

    2024 Headliners

That's ridiculous 😄 Slayer are the best. i don't want to be one of those boneheaded blokes that just stands there and yells SSSSLLLLLAAAAYYYEEERRRRRRR at the top of my lungs but i will be, if it'll help

    2024 Headliners

If you ask me, its Slayer, Metallica, Megadeth and Exodus (who ive always far preferred to Anthrax)
  14. Heilung is such a weird choice 😄 i love it though, its great stuff. Corinne Bailey Rae's last album is excellent too, which i never thought i'd say, and a bit of Nia Archives is very much on the cards. Can see her rocking up to a few different places too, for a live show and a couple of DJ slots. Going to have a good look through the rest of the names dropped and im 100% sure there'll be more good stuff, West Holts is just so reliable
  15. i suppose it is a way of getting rid of ticket touts: get them to say 'f**k that!' to the prices
  16. No, you're right. They're turncoat c**ts.
  17. good lord alive, the state of his barnet. Perhaps he has a real thing for medieval haircuts! He should get a lute on his next record and go all out for that look and sound, and chew on a roasted pigeon breast as he does so

    2024 Headliners

I'd far rather the bands i like headline on smaller stages, cos then i might even get close enough to actually see them instead of being on the side of a hill watching video screens! Keep Young Fathers on West Holts so more niche stuff gets seen by people who are bang into it, and the bigger stages can stay with stuff that has more general appeal. Everyone wins, its all good.
  19. I saw em in 08, my Missus of the time was a huuuuge fan so i went along - it was good, i prepped myself by listening to the first three albums (their only albums at the time!) a lot, and im glad i did cos in terms of show and engagement, they weren't really headliners. But they had the tunes 👍 7/10, was good enough
  20. Cattle Decapitation twice in a week in early march (woop!) Judas Priest in late march Bearded theory in late may glastonbury in late june hellripper/all day metal fest in late august slipknot in december tempted a bit by suicidal tendencies in may at Desertfest too, but not for £60! hoping to get in for something far more reasonable than that . . . .
  21. Yeah, i think you've nailed it. I'm told Emily was a huge fan and gave them a push up to headline in 08 (was it 08? i think it was) and they got a bit worried about headlining a festival, started writing stuff that was a bit bigger and singyalongy, and subsequently became Top Man - for your listening pleasure instead of their previous position of hairy inbred screamy blokes. i far, far prefer the screamy hairy period, ofc - twas ever thus. But thats tainted by association now with the later beige period. I have no idea what they sound like these days, and i have absolutely no inclination to find out.
  22. ooh. Hard to place him at Glastonbury, i'd presume he'd headline, but maybe not the pyramid these days: Other headliner? Subbing the pyramid? I'd bloody love to see him, i'd probs go up to my hard limit of £100 for a gig ticket
  23. I kind of expect to be reamed on ticket and merch prices by AC/DC, cos they dont often play. I definitely expect it from Motley Crue, cos they're all terrible reprehensible bastards (now that Mick Mars isnt in the band). But i presumed Bruce Springsteen and Pearl Jam would be different, cos they've always seemed to have a moral compass and been aware of ticketmaster, tried to keep ticket prices low etc: and have mentioned this in interviews etc - and then they both join the conveyor belt of filthy lucre.
  24. Good question, and a moral can of worms innit? Arcade Fire were discussed elsewhere and they're trying to distance themselves from their allegations (well, the allegations aaginst one member) by disappearing for a bit and slowly weedling their way back: but Till has gone out on his own tour, and Rammstein have a slew of their own dates in the summer, so thats not their approach at all. I dont expect them to appear ever, but i did bloody love hearing Deutschland in the field ahead of Elton John last year 😃
  25. Some are much more likely than others! LCD Soundsystem (missed em in 2016 cos i fancied Earth wind and fire more on the night - dont regret it, had a great time, but still feel like i owe me one) Mr Bungle Cattle Decapitation PJ Harvey Weezer Rammstein (3am Truth stage surprise set) Run the jewels Ice cube Bodycount Michael Kiwanuka
