  1. This was the track that got me into them;
  2. Around 3/4ish years ago if we aren't including The Pilot and I did actually see someone with Status Quo and WASP patches there. I remember thinking about if it was meant to be somekind of ironic cosplay or not.
  3. ALT LDN was a train wreck, there was meant to be two stages one with hippity hop and the other with mEtalZ but there were so many cancellations they combined the two stages into one. But yeah, even if there were two stages it wouldn't have worked. In fairness to Bring Me and Architects they do have a point, their audience isn't the double demin dinosaurs wearing Status Quo and W.A.S.P. patches that roam Download, it's a young metal crowd and if they feel out place it's kinda telling of what Download books and who they are booking for.
  4. This is just me and I'm not arguing it should be the case but if a smaller than normal act did headline Glasto I'd actually be more interested in seeing them there than at a middling festival as I'm assuming they would have that hunger to blast out a great show rather than seeing them do the same setlist and stage antics at just another gig. When those smaller bands I like work their way up to a (low) main stage appearance at a major fest I normally try to get tixs for it as I want to see how they pull it off.
  5. Well I'm currently watching people in the Slam Dunk thread complain they should have the niche 25k capacity fest get a stadium act to headline.
  6. I was commenting on how the mid-sized fests are having to have stadium acts, not Glasto after Dental's suggestion that Glasto headliners and smaller fests headliners will blend into one samey category. But personally I don't even think arena sized acts or bigger should only be considered for mid/large sized fests. I saw Run DMC a few years ago at Hammersmith (and it didn't even sell out) and if someone told me they were headlining Glasto, British Summer Time or whatever my reaction wouldn't be "but they aren't a stadium act" it's would be "that's fucking awesome, I want to go!".
  7. Fuck yeah, Dubioza Kolektiv are touring again and are loads of fun live.
  8. I am fucking bored of the expectations that only the super duper stadium acts can and should headline festivals where there's more interesting options available when you look past that small selection. It's be a shame if those mid-fest slot get taken away for staduim acts.

    Gig Ticket Prices

Oh fuck Fugees, I'm not sure what Lauryn Hill's issues are but if someone fucks about for 2 hours when they should be on stage then they are sending a message they don't respect their audience in which case the audience shouldn't respect them back. I'm talking more about acts playing in the smaller/mid-sized venues. I saw someone on here say they only went to a gig because they saved £2 on the ticket price the other day.

    Gig Ticket Prices

Shit American booking fees asides I don't think people have touched on how musicians were forced to change how their business works. People don't buy music anymore so they have been forced to tour more with higher prices whilst trying to flog merch like they work on a market stall rather than make music. So it's kinda insane to see some people on here who have been getting free music for years, refuse to buy a drink to support the smaller venue or merch to support the band themselves, skip the support band and go on about saving their pennies on ticket pticecs. Yes they get money from Spotify but the rates are complete shit. Below are the pay rates of how royalties work now. I saw a UK version of this which I now can't find. Alot of the bands I listen to don't come close to these type of listeners let alone 4x it so each member can have money.

    2022 Headliners

I remember seeing the The Cure at Wembley and they did a silly amount of encores, it got to the point of me staring at the clock so I could leave in time for the last tube as they were running so late. I decided not to and see all of the (maybe?) 8 encores consisting of 3ish songs per encore and completely missed the tube so we had to spend 4 hours on nightbuses compared to the 40min tube ride. I didn't even hear the song I was waiting for despite them doing 40+ songs.
  12. Bloody Americans with their dates drive me mad at work converting US dates to UK format in excel.
  13. I thought he was doing The Karate Kid thing, the best I could come up with is Fu Manchu and now I'm racist.
  14. So what is the big UK rock fest then if it's not Download? You're making the arguement it is the big one whilst also saying it's not.
  15. Ghost and Volbeat have announced a co-headlining tour of America with Twin Temple supporting. That would be fucking awesome to have in the UK!
  16. Just booking Ghost would be a right step. It's insane that one of the white-hot rock acts of the last few years hasn't played in ages just like Slaves, Architects, Nothing But Thieves, Bring Me The Horizon etc and it's adding to Download becoming more like Monster's Of Rock powered on the fumes of Dad Rock instead of being the big UK rock fest in touch with the actual scene. Chances are when they finally do play it will be like Biffy headlining where they waited too long to do it and it loses some buzz to become abit of a boring booking compared to when they were shit hot. I'm sure I said all this another thread at least once before and it does get boring to complain about it but it's still not as boring as Download's line ups.
  17. That’s when they will start using hologram headliners and it will still be Def Leppard and KISS headlining.
  18. Def Leppard have headlined 3 times in 10 years, like fuck they can’t afford to start booking some new bands to headline.
  19. The US tour is a co-headline thing with Volbeat. I’m just looking forward to new music, they were talking about releasing the new album in 2020.
  20. I always found Big Bang meh myself. I don't like laugh track sitcoms and with Big Bang they just threw out random geek references out and Sheldon (although the guy that plays him is great) the jokes making fun of him rather than with him. But at the same it was on Community was on too which had Abed who just a much better version of Sheldon and their references felt clever and fit in with what was going on. In summary, watch Community!
  21. It seems odd you're defending him as over the last few months you've been demanding more restrictions at festivals/gigs whilst he's demands less and you've been calling people who disagreed with you names as bad as knob on here.

    WWE

So apparently WWE have turned Flair flashing flight attendants into a funny cartoon not once, but twice...

    WWE

No one does really. RVD casually mentions how it's normal for wrestlers to use date rape drugs on the local girls, Tommy Dreamer comparing having a ponytail to being sexually assaulted, Lesnar flashing at women etc plus the scenes with the air stewardess were really sad. One thing I think that was missed was Vince was on the plane the entire time and did nothing as it was all going on. I'm never sue how to take Rogan. Sometimes I think he's cool, sometimes I thinks he's a knob and others I think he's just stoned.
  24. Until he pulled out as he got "coivd" which seems odd since he's a coivd denier.
