We have booked a meal at The Crown for the 1st night we are there and will then visit the site the following day. What route did you walk onto the site from The Crown pub?

Hi Guys, I'm staying near the site 27th-29th Dec with my girlfriend and dog in a cottage. Going to walk the site (obvs!) - is the skate park the place to park my car and from there where is the best route in? @Ayrshire Chris Any tips? 🙂 Will be taking the dog on the lead with me, and my girlfriend hates big crowds so will never go to the festival itself but wants to see all of the site as she loves watching it on TV. 🙂 Hoping to get a pic with the hound in front of the Pyramid if possible!
  8. ITV had reporters there in 1997 but I think that was more due to the mud than the festival itself
  9. dill danding? is that one of his new ones?! 😄
  10. I will be if I get a ticket in the resale.
  11. My suggestion would be if you know anyone who's coming by car is to see if you can get them to bring your alcohol and camping chairs to the site for you. We have done this twice when going by coach and it helped us a lot, we just walked out to the car with them once we had pitched up and collected everything and got them a couple of pints to say thank you once we were all sorted.
  12. Pray i get one in the resale now!
  13. I go to a festival called 'Truck Festival' near my home and have done since 1999. Up until I would say around 2011-12 ish it was a small but decent enough festival, the odd name band, capacity about 10,000, one main stage, few tents and a barn which became a dance/dnb arena at night, mostly local people went but you got a few from further adrift. However everyone moaned that the acts weren't big enough, they wanted more things to do, better eating options, they wanted this that and the other. The festival then got sold to a commercial company and to cut a long story short, its now 35,000 and acts like Sam Fender, Kasabian etc, big bars that charge £6 a can, big food vans (not local stuff anymore) charging the earth etc etc. And guess what happened? All those people who moaned now don't go anymore because it 'got too big' 'its too commercial' 'they charge too much' Dammed if you do, dammed if you don't.
  14. Yep, I was effectively 'off grid' this year as I'm on o2, but apart from a couple of times when I had to rely on others with me to find out where people were it didn't bother me too much.
  15. Completely agree...I think it was 2010 when people I was camped with first started updating Facebook whilst they were at the festival, then a few years later portable chargers meant they could do it all weekend, and then things like Instagram/Snapchat etc were constantly being used to update whilst there.

We are staying in a cottage in West Pennard. 🙂 Hopefully some restaurants will be open at that time of the year, we are also limited with other attractions like Wookey Hole as we have our dog.
  17. Personally I would stay at Sticklinch as driving in and out will add on at least two hours per trip depending on where you get parked up. Depends if that bothers you or not!

We are going to stay just outside Pilton for two nights 27th-29th Dec, going to hopefully walk my dog across the farm (on a lead of course) Will take some pics and upload to here of course.
  19. Depending on which direction you're going the Travelodge at Podimore services isn't too far (20 min drive) , we've used it on the Tuesday night before the festival before and has a nice pub just a few mins walk away. https://www.travelodge.co.uk/hotels/104/Yeovil-Podimore-hotel https://www.podymore-inn.co.uk/
