  1. I plan catching Andrew Maxwell Morris in Toad Hall next door, who finishes at 7:10 so shall be fashionably late. In a Shaun the Sheep t-shirt as per avatar.
  2. Sorry, out of reactions, but thank you. I put it down to the rapidly rising Glastonbury excitement. I can already feel that vibe starting. To think.... this time next week I’ll be (checks Clashfinder) watching Lightning Seeds at the Other. Can in hand, sun shining, without a care in the world. Can’t wait.
  3. Yep. Even I (the eternal optimist) was beginning to question the thought processes of some of the rose tinted spectacle brigade that year! We were seeing horrific videos like the one above, and the memorable one of the water seeping out of the ground (I couldn’t find that one) with mere days to go and on here it was all, as you say, “if the sun comes out that’ll dry up in no time”. Have to say you were consistent (and correct) in 2016..... but 2023 is going to be fine. The ground is bone dry with days to go.
  4. Gentle reminder what the ground conditions were like on June 16th 2016.
  5. Lizzo 30 Elton John 51 Kelis 51 Young Fathers 51 Loyle Carner 41 (-10) Candi Staton 46 Hot Chip 15 Rina Sawayama 49 Phoenix 51 Caroline Polachek 61 Fatboy Slim 55
  6. I tend to pay more attention (and put more faith in) @deebeedoobee and @pilton digger reports of what is actually taking place in the run up. I also pay close attention to the ground reports supplied by @Sawdusty surfer. I look at these forecasts, (and thank @briddj for their excellent work) certain in the knowledge we’ll get something better/drier than predicted by @The Nal and not as scorching as that feared by @FuzzyDunlop. And every year that’s what happens. The gates open in 5 days time (yippee!) and the ground is bone dry. It is, as always, going to be a belter.
  7. No use of the words Armageddon, apocalypse, biblical, washout, flood, or doomed. Must try harder.
  8. Think it says We Stand. It’s a gentle Glastonbury reminder for the chair and picnic blanket brigade.
  9. Whilst I understand your (and others) concerns around temperatures, a good ridge of high pressure is the only way to ensure and rain is diverted away from the site. In June, in the south of England, high pressure almost always equates to high temperatures. To my mind (I’m no meteorologist) a cool festival free from rain, whilst desirable, is very unlikely. All the festivals I’ve been to have either been cool with rain, or dry and hot. I’m fortunate enough to not suffer too badly with the heat, a wet bandana and plenty of fluids work wonders... but I recognise others suffer greatly with this (my own daughter being one). I hate the rain. I get enough of it up here, and it just makes everything slightly, well, damp. All that said, the festival is, and will be, fantastic irrespective of whatever the weather has in store for us.
  10. Seriously?!? The finger is a long standing friend of the festival. Learn to love it. There are only two constants in my belief system regards all these forecasts.... The Azores Finger & The Pilton Forcefield. A finger of the Azores High often nudges towards Britain in the summer, typically bringing hot, sunny weather. It was the Azores High that brought the long, hot summer of 1976,
  11. So to follow up, here’s my controversial opinion (as if it wasn’t clear already). The Brothers Bar is the massive zit on Glastonbury’s otherwise perfect skin.
  12. Not only is the cider rubbish, but the bar itself is the worst one on site. In fact, of ALL the on site bars, it’s the only one I wouldn’t be happy in. It’s total sh*t.
  13. I’m leaving Sunday. Night in Bromsgrove, and staying with friends in Bournemouth Monday night. Into the queue Tuesday late.
  14. This is exactly how I feel about this thread.
  15. Remember your tickets will be handed out on the coach you are booked on to! Edit : just seen the word “return”. Nothing to see here
  16. Hoping this is what I’ll be doing by this time as well. Question is.... do I have the celebratory drink before the second run, or not? Think I might just steel myself, get the second run done, in order that I can fully enjoy it. Note: this approach also rules out the possibility of getting over excited, and visiting the Cider Bus after the celebratory drink and before the second run is done.
  17. If this run comes to pass, the meet might be the only time Fuzzy comes out of the shade 😀
