    Weather v Line up

I think I covered every descriptive word available for mud that year!!
  2. That's their one and only headline slot. They played the festival again but not as headliners.
  3. My personal view is I think they would do a cracking job. Jarvis is a great showman. I think he has the charisma to carry it off which not all front people do. I think he could even get a lot of people who aren't big fans and make big fans of them but is that what a festival of contemporary performing arts should be doing reaching for an act that haven't made new material in 20+ years to have as their headliners. If it was a special back for one year only then maybe you get away with it because it is more special but when they are in the second or third year of comeback gigs it's harder to justify.
  4. TBF top 40 classes as a hit and the festival is in the UK. I'd have picked up on the fact that they've only headlined once as far as I can recall instead.
  5. Strange my niece is 16 and not because of family has actually independently sort of found Pulp and she likes them and knows more than Common People. I wonder if the one hit wonder is actually more common in slightly older people who were never into them. Even the smallest amount of investigation would show they have plenty more in their locker.

    Weather v Line up

I did 2016 with a broken toe. Getting through the mud in heavy boots felt like I had trench foot by the time I got home. I also think the factor that made 2016 so bad for some was how long it took us to get in. I left my house just before 2pm on Tuesday and didn't get in to the CV field until nearly 6am in the morning meant I was shattered from the off.
  7. I think if they had come back for just one set of This is what we do for an encore gigs then yes as it would have felt quite special but as they have now been back for so long and done so many shows that if anyone wanted to see them they could have I think it seems less likely now.
  8. A chance to ditch early and beat the crowds to SEC

    Weather v Line up

Exactly on the basis that the line up can never be that bad when you can choose so few from so many you'll always opt for good weather. What good weather means is of course different to every person.
  10. Yep Jessie is my only one that I think I can already absolutely confirm. Current thinking will be Michael Kiwanuka, Little Simz and then off to West Holts for a Saturday night disco. Her tour dates have conspired against me every time she has been to Manchester and the clash with Macca last time was a killer for me so I am incredibly happy about this.

They said good weather so I assume we get to choose what is good weather. For me perfect Glastonbury weather is dry ground so you can sit anywhere, blue skies but not actually too hot. After a few days a little shower overnight to keep the dust down.

    Weather v Line up

Hmm that’s a tricky one because a lot of people are saying this is a poor line up but it’s absolutely fine for me. I don’t think they could ever have 2000 acts and have me be unable to pick 20 acts so I might as well have decent weather to help with the running from stage to stage.
  13. I think the diversity of genre has gotten much better over the years as well.
  14. Yep it's good to see a bit of humour injected into proceedings.
  15. Good work. If you're going to moan about the line up at least put the work in and be funny!!
  16. They'll be busy but I wouldn't think any busier than Pet Shop Boys were a few years back.
  17. Come June I predict a Taps aff moment at Paloma Faith 😂 You'll have a ball regardless and you know you will.
  18. Yep even those moaning about the line up truly know in their hearts that they'll still have a great time.
  19. They are high on my list. In fact Irish music definitely having a big moment and being Irish I'm here for it! NewDad and The Mary Wallopers are on the shortlist as well.
  20. You're not alone I am plenty happy with it. I understand some of the sentiment of those who are not in that there's a lot of repeat bookings etc but I have a few I've never seen and a few that I am happy to always see. There's also loads of stages to be announced that will add plenty more to the mix. Even all those who are complaining will be online after the festival saying they had a marvellous time.
  21. I think he's only seen as an over promotion because he's quite down to earth and has played the farm a lot. Rick Astley is a novelty whereas Paul Heaton is up there as one of the best song writers the UK has produced. I know he would never do the legend slot for the reasons I've mentioned but in terms of a canon of hits that everyone knows and could singalong to there ain't much better out there.
  22. I think Paul Heaton will also have the whole Pyramid field doing a big sing along.
  23. So I know it's only been a day but when do we think the individual stages will start dropping posters. I asked Avalon and they said soon. Do you think we'll get any more before balance payment day or maybe they start dropping them through the week? Or are we waiting until after resale? It may have felt like a long time but it's actually a very early first poster drop.
