  1. If the last few years are anything to go by, the refunded tickets will most likely be absorbed by the festival for performer / guests and very expensive hospitality tickets, so don't pin your hopes on a secret resale happening.
  2. Best of luck guys. Don't forget to sign up to every volunteering and stewarding organisation to get on the stand by lists. In 2017, I manage to bag a place stewarding on the wednesday of the fest so miracles can happen though the chances of a secret resale are slim to none I'm afriad.
  3. Essentially, that's all that matters as ideally the music industry should be a meritocracy where talent and hard work is rewarded with success. Unfortunately, that isn't the reality that the vast majority of musicians experience. They may have talent, may work hard but for a variety of reasons, don't enjoy the same level of luck and success. That could be due to a number of things. In FA's case, he was lucky to be born into privilege, lucky to have Brian Eno as a neighbour and mentor, lucky to get a vastly superior music education from his school, lucky to be able to dedicate his life to music in the knowledge he has a financial safety net to explore it, lucky to have the connections necessary to further his career and get opportunities that would be out of reach to the majority of people. While incredibly lucky to have all of those opportunities, they would be irrelevant without having talent and (more importantly), the work ethic necessary to develop those skills. The main thing is, he makes music that resonates with a lot of people who enjoy it immensely. Unless his rise to fame / success was at the expense of other, more talented musicians, does his history matter a lot in the great deal of things?

    The Glade

I can't comment on how it was in the thick of the tent, but in front of the speaker stack at the back of the tent was clean but a bit quiet if my hazy memory is correct
  5. That would be great. If the car parks are mainly used for grazing fields outside of the festival, installing solar farms wouldn't massively disrupt things as the land would still be usable for grazing or certain crops. Plus it'd be an extra income for the farmers.
  6. Last year, Glastonbury had a shuttle bus from the festival to Bristol - I'd imagine the service will be here this year and will run much the same. I don't know what the demand/queues are like but I'd imagine from 7am onwards will be quite busy so probably best to go for the 5am bus to be extra safe.
  7. It's complete pie in the sky thinking, but it would be great if GFL made a separate car park for electric vehicles that had solar panels that could trickle charge vehicles over the course of the weekend. Probably no where near enough to fully charge but certainly enough to prevent batteries from going flat. Though sadly, I think the cost would price GFL out of being able to implement this.
  8. It depends on how well his set goes and his next album. If they are both great then the hype machine will continue, justifiably so if he manages to do both. If his next album is quite middling, then he'll go the same route as Disclosure and/or focus on producing other people.
  9. His parents are most likely donors Apparently the working title for "we lost dancing" was Maggie (We lost taxes) until The blessed Madonna made her contribution.
  10. Was that the one on West holts or by the other stage? Either way, they both were rather nice!
  11. dream scenario at the moment is GnR pull out so Lizzo headlines with Fred Again subbing.
  12. It's because they've realised it's easier and cheaper to import the cocaine paste (as this can be concealed far better) and then synthesise it into the finished product in a lab in europe - https://www.vice.com/en/article/qjv8e7/rise-of-coke-labs-in-europe-signal-death-of-the-smuggled-cocaine-brick It certainly does explain how quality has improved while the price remaining largely static over the last decade. It's a shame that weed isn't as popular as it used to be. It's a lot easier dealing with someone who's far too stoned than coked up to their eyeballs
  13. Gate D is a straight walk in to Oxylers and is your best bet. Gate A is a little further away but it's also the coach / shuttle bus drop off which gets priority over the car people
  14. That's a good point, I hadn't really considered that. Definitely helps to build up hype/demand and reduces the risk of over saturation.
  15. I've said before that he could be a potential headliner if his next album blows up. All it takes is the right guests / banger to propel him into the mainstream Same with Calvin Harris at his absolute peak, the man was everywhere - while a lot on here (myself included at the time) would not have viewed him as a worthy headliner, he still would have been on the list of potential headliners. On the other hand, he could just as easily pull a disclosure and his next release be quite forgettable, leaving him with The Other or West Holts as his ceiling. That said, he'll probably be willing to pay for peanuts since he's (well his family) aren't short of cash.
  16. I completely agree. I put it down to it being the first Glastonbury since covid so the vast majority of people were not used to being in big crowds again and were generally not as comfortable / patient with dealing with that. I'm hoping that now everyone has gotten used to being out of lockdown and around people again, the twatishness will subside somewhat. That's pretty much mine. If inflation and the UK economy continues going in the same direction, GFL will have to make more decisions in regards to raising prices or cutting back on the experience. Either option is not sustainable for the long term as it will either price people out of the festival completely or deliver an inferior experience. For the veterans and certified Glasto lovers it might not affect them but it could deter the younger generation coming and falling in love with the place. Hopefully that won't come to pass though!
  17. I didn't go to Beyonce but one of my favourite "Eric at Glastonbury" moments happened at that gig. Sarah was a long suffering girlfriend of Eric. It was her birthday and she had been looking forward to Beyonce all weekend. She was unbearable excited, though Eric was less than enthused. To deal with it, he decided to eat a lot of mushrooms. Some would describe his dose as heroic, some would say idiotic. It is a line he straddles on a daily basis. Predictably, once the fungi had taken over, Eric was not in a good way, was struggling to deal with life and needed to get back to the tent as Beyonce started. Sarah being the absolute angel that he did not deserve, couldn't leave him to wander glastonbury in this state and said she would walk him back. Like most things*, a bit of time heals all so over the course of the 30 minute meandering walk back to the tent, Eric had begun to rally somewhat and started to feel better with every step. So good in fact, that by the time they made it back to the tent, in his addled state thought that he was walking Sarah back and said "Well, you're back safe now. I'm off into the festival" Needless to say, this relationship did not last
  18. At first I was quite whelmed with the SH line up - though mainly because there were more names I didn't know than usual but have spent a little bit of time listening to some of the acts and there's plenty that tickles my pickle. Folamour, Barry Can't Swim, Nia Archives and Franc Moody sound like they could be a lot of fun so hopefully I'll manage to catch them. Skream always brings the party so will make sure I'm there for that (clashes permitting) and DMX krew on the saturday afternoon will do nicely. It'd be nice to spend a bit more time in Silver Hayes. I don't think I've spent any significant amount of time there since they got rid of the Blues but am quite interested to see how the LSTD guys do with the area.
  19. Definitely. They understand Glastonbury and know it doesn't matter where or when you're on, all that matters is the time you've got. Same here. Though if they aren't here this year, they are all but nailed on for next year.
  20. It's possible but if that was to happen it's more likely they'd sub and Lizzo would get the headline slot
  21. For sure, and opens up a slot for Pulp though ideally, Lizzo into Elton would be a sunday night for the ages
  22. It says he's playing on the Friday on his website. Already dreading the crowd churn between the other stage and pyramid if it's true

    Avalon 2023

It's a pretty standard Avalon line up. Hardly surprising that they're being a bit cautious following the Sugababes. While there's no "must sees" on there for me, Avalon is always a lovely place to chill out for a little bit so will no doubt be there at some point, even if it's to see Beans on Toast for the 4th time that weekend.
  24. Had a little chortle at that. I'm assuming since it was pretty late in the day when they realised the state of Genosys, they made do with whatever they had lying around or was readily available. if we were a little disappointed by it, I can only imagine how annoyed the creative team were at what they gave us. Hopefully they've been cooking up something special over the last year!
  25. dear lord! yep, that'll do it. I thought such disgusting behaviour was relegated to R&L and didn't make it here. Sorry you had to deal with that on your doorstep
