  1. Might go and support JayaHadADream after the absolute shitshow of criticism by old-before-their-time gammons who won’t be there anyway on social media.
  2. We need Taylor’s trajectory to reverse to the point she’d consider playing Glastonbury again. TTPD is very welcome in that respect.
  3. Agreed about the Pyramid crowd. I remember watching RTJ on that stage and good as they were, it wasn't a patch on their West Holts set. I can't see Janelle Monáe bettering her phenomenal West Holts set either, although she does have the energy to rise to the moment and isn't purely a hip hop act, whereas I felt Simz only just met the occasion on West Holts, personally. I hope to be proven very wrong, and can't wait to find out. The only rapper I think nailed it on Pyramid was Stormzy, delivering a set for the ages.
  4. You make a compelling case for Darble. The long walk back to the tent, and feeling like I've not really camped in the ferstival 'proper' (compared to Pennards, my only camping experience) is what's put me off, and they still feel like legitimate reasons, but I'm going to think about Darble, mainly because: 1. Getting a good spot at Pennards necessitates an arrival at PGA in the very early morning, about 4/5am (which involves getting up even earlier). That used to be OK but the last couple of years it's had a big impact on my energy levels throughout the festival. Arriving on Wednesday afternoon, as a friend did a couple of years ago, should mean no queue at all, and still plenty of space in those outer fields adjacent to PGA. 2. I catch the first train back from Castle Cary on the Monday morning, so basically pull an all-nighter on Sunday. I don't want to pack up my tent/stuff in the dark at Pennards and carry it across site at that time, so I do that on Sunday morning and put it in the lock up next to PGA ready to collect when I leave. That can take up precious prime-time hours on Sunday. Camping in Darble or close by means there's no need to put anything in a lock up, and I could enjoy all that Sunday has to offer. So overall, I'd lose Wednesday morning (but get a proper sleep on Tuesday night), have more energy over the course of the festival, enjoy more of Sunday, appreciate a quieter field, and leave with fewer issues. The price I pay is a long walk back every night or if I need to go back to the tent for some reason. That and the psychological sense that I'm walking to/from the festival rather than actually being in it, if that makes sense.
  5. I've camped in Pennards every year since I started going. Have done 6 festivals there and up until last year, had no problems at all, sleeping soundly every night. Last year was especially noisy, though. One or two people literally shouting as loud as they could at 5am, and people generally talking/partying right through the night like it was in the middle of the afternoon. I haven't experienced it that bad before, and am certainly thinking of changing locations this year.
  6. Do cheques even exist anymore?
  7. Yeah that's true. Maybe they agreed not to announce her until later so BST get a bigger sales period. Or maybe I'm clutching at straws.
  8. Not beyond the realms of possibility. She's got a bunch of US tour dates until 21st June, then she's in Dublin on 3rd July. Also headlining BST later that month. So active, playing festivals, and in the right part of the world at just about the right time...

    Glastocam!

I love that they cater for us absolute lunatics whose attentiveness means we notice things like this.
  10. Great line up from The Glade. Excited to see Nubiyan Twist!
  11. Saw Fatboy at the Gas Tower in '22, which was somehow the first time I ever saw him live. I got a spot right at the front, from where I could annoy him by shouting things I drunkenly thought would encourage him. Why I thought this would in any way help is beyond my sober self. Anyway, about twenty minutes in it became apparent that a tsunami of piss was steadily building and wouldn't wait until the set was over. I'm always prepared for such moments on the farm, carrying at least one Travel John with me for when there's no other option. The difficulty was that owing to my position in the crowd, I would be on, shall we say, 'full display' if Mr Slim was to glance downward. Also, I'd made a dancing friend at the front and was enjoying their company but didn't feel like I knew them well enough to tell them I had to go to the toilet and then do it right in front of them. So some secrecy and discretion was required, and I ended up contorting myself into the most absurd position that somehow managed to protect my dignity from both the DJ and the crowd. I remember bouncing in rhythm to the music for a few seconds to create the illusion that this was a legitimate dance move, and then stop so I could pee, and swayed instead which I was able to do without spilling anything. Finally, I was able to switch back to a normal, upright position and pop the bag back in my bag to chuck it in a bin later (I mention that only because I know some people get a bit funny about that part of using these things).
  12. Reading a few of the replies to Emily’s post, it’s a bit sad to see some folk would rather cast doubt on the actual organiser of the festival telling the truth, than feel that their perception of the line up announcement is being challenged.
  13. I’d imagine so. I’d be surprised if the SE Corner doesn’t have a significant refresh this year, especially after all the ‘everything must go’ stuff last year.
  14. Well, have you? See you on the farm!!
  15. Finally catching up with the second season of Time, with Jodie Whittaker. Another outstanding, bleak set of episodes.
  16. It’s high time for ‘Pimms in the Pit’. Charge for a pre-laid blanket, a glass of bubbly, and an onion confit tartlet. It’ll keep the riff-raff from getting in the way.
  17. Great Western Railways' advance ticket window has crept into the time I'll be travelling that way, so I've booked my first train journey of the holiday!
  18. Ah, that does make more sense, given that was the advance booking page 👍
  19. Suspended between Glasto Wednesday and Friday. Just spotted this! 😮
  20. Thanks. It was a big scare, but made sense of how 'not right' I'd been feeling. Now it's just a case of being aware of blood sugar levels and ensuring not to spike them too high or have them drop too low. Most things at the festival should be fine in moderation!
  21. It’ll be the last year the festival get a penny of my money until they stop this forced charitable giving. I DEMAND the right not to give anything while complaining about how the festival aren’t doing enough and society is broken by entitlement and selfishness.
  22. Adapting to a new life as a diabetic, having been found in a coma a couple of weeks ago and stayed for a while in hospital (as serious as it sounds). I won’t be able to be as carefree when it comes to food and drink as I have been in years past, but that’ll be a positive for my health.

    Glastocam!

Aye. Amazing how quickly the ground can dry up when it warms up a bit.
  24. We’re all on the same team, ultimately 👍 Back on topic please, folks.
  25. He’s proven to be reliable in the past, but I wouldn’t go that far!
