We’re the same, 3 of our mates switched to mad cool last year because they went for the guaranteed lineup instead of waiting on beni. But anyway, it’s one of my favourite weeks of the year regardless. Can’t fucking wait.

I did both last year, and even though the Mad Cool lineup was incredible, its was an absolute shit show compared to Beni. No queues and 10 minute walk between tent and main stage is all i need. Cant wait to be back!

I get that, and I buy my ticket every year regardless of the lineup, because it is a brilliant holiday/festival. But there must be a good amount of people who base there decision on lineup, and when you’ve only got a fraction of your lineup announced compared to other euro festivals, it puts you at a disadvantage.

I'm with you bud. Even though i buy my ticket before any acts have been announced i know of a lot of my mates don't like to commit until all the headliners have been announced. Unfortunately for some this is usually too late and they end up being priced out due to the higher airfares nearer the time.

There are still Vida Festival and Cruilla Barcelona, Kodaline as headliners fit them much more.

Cruilla have one day left without a headliner, and with Kylie and Foals being the other two, they definitely fit the bill.

Vida festival has Beirut, The Charlatans, Madness and Sleaford Mods on their lineup, which to me seems further away from Kodalines  crowd than Benicassim is.

Lets hope its one of these anyway...

They might play, but there's no way they are headlining, not when you've already got the likes of The 1975, Ezra, Glynne, and Blossoms, as main-subs/further down the bill.  They might 'headline' the 2nd stage one night, if we're unlucky, but would probably be the 4th or 5th biggest act playing that night, if they did.

I agree, but this is the type of thing that Beni would do. Last minute bump up and youve got 1975 and Kodaline co headlining...

  5. If The Strokes aren't billed as UK festival exclusives at All Points East, then they're pretty much nailed on for Glastonbury aren't they? Surely theres nowhere else in the UK left for them to go?

This thread is an exhausting rally between “but they’re not big enough to headline - sub or Other headliner” and “but they have no reason to accept that so if they are playing, it’s as headliners”.

Yet i'm loving every minute of it!

Two UK dates since 2011 definitely justifies this level of excitement for me, especially considering i was one of the unfortunate lot who waited outside Dingwalls...

A suggestion: doesn’t matter whoever in the group gets through, they put as lead booker the one you have all agreed on, who has the funds, and use their card details. You can all pre-pay that person, or wait until successful and transfer the funds then.

Only problem is the group is slightly extended with a few people only knowing one another through mutual friends and therefore may be a bit hesitant about giving their details out. For me personally its a risk id be willing to take to get to Glastonbury, just not sure about a few others.

But yeh, this does seem like the most logical and reasonable way to deal with it. Luckily we've got 3 months to try and get this message across :)

  8. Probably been discussed before but what do people think the chances are of bagging a ticket in the resale compared to the initial sale? Still a large amount of our group without tickets who have become incredulous at the prospect of being on the farm and are running out of time to book the needed annual leave off...

Surely the higher upfront costs in the resale will unfortunately exclude a few people, and also mean that a large amount of people who get through will only be trying for single tickets over multiple?

Admittedly we're still trying to work out a way of paying if an individual gets through who doesn't have the minimum £1,000 in the bank. Quick phone call to an individual who does have the funds doesn't seem the most efficient of ways...

do they chop your hands off as part of some sacrificial ceremony when you get on the bus then , to prove green travel ?  or are bus travellers banned from sleeping anywhere ? :)

Yeah its a Flintstone-esque style bus where they've removed the storage from underneath so that we can all power the bus by foot!

All i'm able to take on board is the most important thing for any journey - road beers ;)

  10. I know most people on here have laughed off any correlation between bookies odds and the likelihood of them playing, but the short odds have raised my suspicions for a while. Like people have said, they're short markets with even the smallest bets fluctuating the odds, but they've never drifted to far away from evens for a prolonged period of time. A few people on here lumped on Lady Gaga which brought that down considerably but even thats now back up to 7/1. The Strokes are 6/4 meaning there has been a large amount placed on them or that consistent bets are being placed.

Somebody has definitely heard something and is lumping money on them - Lets hope this rings true

Ive just managed to pick up one of these on facebook marketplace for £120 whereas they're still retailing at £320. Worth having a look on marketplace, gumtree or ebay as you can pick up some right bargains, and most importantly second hand is good for the environment! Haven't purchased a brand new tent now since 2010 - i think?

Why would The Strokes headline 3 Spanish festivals tho? The Toad just talks shite and probs best to ignore what they say.

Yeah as much as i want it to, i don't think its happening. Based on that poll i'm pretty sure were going to end up with Mumford and Sons unfortunately.

Aye, for the sake of clarification I think Room on Fire is a great album, I was just trying to pull some highlights as per Mardy's request.

In terms of rating the albums it's an easy one from me, they've declined in release order (mirroring their popularity probably). Comedown Machine being the weakest and Is This It being, arguably, the best album of the 2000s.

yeh i just wanted to throw in a few suggestions and reinforce how good the 2nd album actually is!

Cant argue with you on the albums either but its worth a mention that the gap between the 1st and 2nd in terms of personal preference is the smallest of them all, probably because the album is basically an extension of the first - Perfect

  14. Room on fire: 12:51, You Talk Way Too Much, What Ever Happened, I Cant Win*

First Impressions: Juicebox, Razorblade, Heart in A Cage

Angles: Gratisfaction, Under Cover Of Darkness, Taken For A Fool

*huge realisation when typing this list out that every song on that album is a banger.

    Get them on the farm,

As for now there is no Portugal date for them. NOS Alive is out due to dates as both BBK and DM announced The Strokes & The Voidz, so Julian needs to spend two days at each of these two festivals.
If they play SBSR I'm sure they also come to Beni.

Could we realistically expect The Strokes to play 3 Spanish festivals? I hope you're right, just seems one too many for me personally.
