    Peggy Gou, Who?

She was decent at All Points East before the Chems. After Fat Boy Slim last year (which many thought was weird) it doesn't seem that weird. I quite like it when they mix it up on the stages a bit.
  2. If I'm not on shift LCD into Dua Lipa will be the main time I'm aiming to be at the Pyramid... but I wouldn't be surprised if I don't stay for much of Dua and head to Jungle.

    Volunteering 2024

How do you apply for parking/organise a car share? Seems very much preferable to the coach.
  4. Re young headliners this is from last year but this year's was clearly an increase - Average age of a Glastonbury headliner is still well into their 40s after Paul McCartney gets prime slot - Wales Online. I think the festival needs to book who it can when available (would have been crazy to turn down Blur, Neil Young or Spingsteen in 2009) but generally try and skew younger. I'm 44, I'd be happy with one pyramid headliner from or before 'my era' and I'll either see an exciting young act on the other nights if they appeal to me or go to one of many other stages if not.

    Guns n Roses

Have to say I was pleasantly surprised. After all the talk beforehand about how poor they were live, particularly Axl's voice I was just there for the songs. Axl had a great energy on stage, his voice was patchy - good at points but didn't bother me when not. Slash was as excellent as oyu would hope. Wouldn't have been anywhere else.
  6. I feel like I saw plenty of music but relatively few big acts. Increasingly less fussed about the main stages, not even so much because of the acts themselves. You just spend so much time getting to a good sport, going to the loos etc. and the atmosphere is rarely as good. Smaller places you can just meander in and out of sets as you fancy.
  7. After 6 years away (fallow year, child in hospital, COVID x2 and no ticket) I know what it is like to live without it and I can but I sure as hell don’t want to

    Lana Del Rey Curfew

I think you’ve said everything that needs to be said 👏

Out of upvotes but I agree, because I am a festival nerd.

What I intended to say was that if people had pulled the ‘she was getting her hair done’ out of nowhere it could be rooted in misogyny, that a female artist might be more likely to do so. It would be a very random thing to say otherwise. My point was that it wasn’t that, Lana brought it up and it is relevant. I fully agree the blame is with the artist, it is part of why I’ve never bothered seeing GNR before, and was pleasantly surprised by their professionalism as I would have been ripping them apart if they were late and missed the hits at the end. So yeah, (based on what I/we know) calling Lana out for her actions, and it being nothing to do with her gender, I agree with.

    Lana Del Rey Curfew

    … in your opinion.

…in your opinion. As has been said Lizzo and Capaldi are younger than and at least as contemporary as Lana and you are talking about a festival that had Billie Eilish headline it at 20 last year. I just don’t think they rate Lana as highly as you do.

All fair points. Weren’t our guesstimates for the capacities of the different stages a pretty big gap between the two? Pyramid - Open Air - 120,000 Other - Open Air - 70,000 (guess) I have no idea to be honest, have never seen an act with a really big crowd on the other from the back. I feel for the fans definitely, my frustration when it happens is generally with the artist though. Festivals in the UK have serious curfews, it is a part of the history of the site, I really don’t think that would ever be them being petty.

    My Fat Mistake

I try to have no regrets at Glastonbury tbh (and I missed Bowie in 2000 which was ridiculously stupid) as you can never be everywhere. Would have liked to have seen Maggie Rogers and Rick/Blossoms on the Saturday pm but my wife was really struggling with the heat. If we’d made it to them she would have been in no fit state to enjoy Lizzo how we did so I’m happy with my choices and catching up on iPlayer.

The use of the b word earlier was unnecessary, misogynistic and unfair. The stuff about doing her hair would be if it wasn’t based on what she seems to have said and done. The biggest difference between her and McCartney/Springsteen though is surely the size of the crowd - a Macca crowd on the other would be beyond dangerous? Would her live streams on iPlayer compare? if Axel had done this on the Pyramid and they had stopped it I would have blamed him, because he has form for it, as does Lana.
  16. We managed to get a decent view of Elton, a fair way back but just inside the track on the left side of the stage, so could easily nip in and out to go to the urinals. Once the majority of the crowd were settled the path was alright as you can’t really see anything there

    Delights from 2023

Out of upvotes but 100% agree and think it ties in with what @ICGenie was saying about it feeling generally inclusive.

    Delights from 2023

Love this thread as I just had my best Glastonbury ever (of 9). Agree with everything posted really. I actually found it no more busy than 2017 or 2019 (apart from Elton) and the site looked stunning pretty much all around, Silver Hayes, Car Henge and Glastonbury on sea all looked great
  19. Fwiw we saw them last year and are going again. Blossoms own music is fine, Rick’s is cheesy fun and I haven’t listened to the Smiths in decades so I’m hardly an uber fan of any of them… but we had an absolutely great time. They are great tunes, all the better when not having to tolerate Morrisey.

    Michaels involvement

We saw him do just that last August when we visited the site. He smiled and waved. Absolute legend.
  21. Yeah he does, including with Eats Everything at Glastonbury a few times at Glastonbury over the past few years.
  22. Well, cool boxes work better and fit my alcohol for the entire weekend, you can add bags of ice and when it turns to cold water they hold it in. The rucksack is not waterproof on the inside but far more transportable and fits my drink for half a day/a day (drinking ale) plus anything else I want to carry. The lock-ups are literally on my way in every day, usually go close to the lock-ups at some point. Very rarely but drinks, never gone back to the tent in the day, never drunk a warm beer at Glastonbury.
  23. Cool boxes stay at the tent or lock-ups. I carry a cool-bag rucksack which I fill up at the start of the day, and usually at the lock-ups at some point later. Heavy but a lot easier than carrying a cool box around.
  24. Not just you, I feel the same. Lots there I want to see but lacks a unique/big draw. At first listen though the stuff on there I don’t know sounds excellent and I love the glade so am sure I’ll spend a fair amount of time there.
