    Guns n Roses

Will they be the best live act playing at the time? No. Will they have the best back catalogue of anyone playing at the time? In my opinion, probably. Will they be the only band playing whose debut album cover I wore as a patch on a denim jacket when I was 10? Yes, damn right I’ll be there.

    Headliners 2023

If we're talking comparisons I'd say The Stone Roses is the closest - were huge for a short period then largely went away for ages, back with original line-up, not known for their live (vocal) performances. Never at Glastonbury but Stone Roses were undoubtedly headliners when they first toured again.

    Headliners 2023

As always opinions on headliners are highly subjective but as someone who has been going to festivals for 20+ years, to have a headliner who I've never seen before but have vaguely liked since I was a kid (when they were indisputably huge), even if their live performances are inconsistent, seems like a good booking. I'd suggest there will be enough people in a similar position to make it busy enough - I'm sure there'll be lots that enjoy it, lots that slate it (is there ever not?)

    Was excellent at Bearded Theory
  5. One of my highlights was being sat next to the piano in the Greenfields in 2013. Nobody was really playing it when we sat down but then this guy came up and did an amazing hour long set of hip hop classics, gradually drawing a big crowd. It was excellent.
  6. I’ve always though a Punchdrunk style late night immersive theatre experience would be amazing at Glastonbury.
  7. After only making it for 24 hours in 2019 because one of the kids had been in hospital all Spring/Summer and not getting tickets in 2020-2022 I can finally say… I am going to Glastonbury. Absolutely delighted
  8. All available tickets have now been allocated?

    Glastocam!

These are amazing. So, they are all from the Tithe Barn path which is a public footpath? Do you happen to know here would be best to park? I'm in the wider area today and I would love to get as close as we are allowed, my original plan was to park at the skateboard park...
  11. This is really helpful but my tiny brain is trying to comprehend from various maps what is possible (wish I had listened more in Geography). So Is footpath 1 north of Worthy Lane? Is footpath 2 between Gate A (approximately where I think it is?) to Steanbow Farm (which is Steanbow Dairy Unit)? Is google maps suggestion that I can walk south of these (or on Worthy Lane or Brimley Lane) not accurate as these are private and 'the site'? Please excuse my complete lack of preparedness for this!
  12. Have found myself in Glastonbury with a day to kill with my eldest who is an A-Level Art Student working on a scrap book with one of the themes being 'Performance' (example painting they did of Arcadia below). Having never been to the site outside the festival it would be a dream to do so and may inspire some art. I've got, from this and the various threads that I could find, that parking at the skate park and respectfully sticking to the (actual) public footpaths would make it possible to get a glimpse of the recently undressed Pyramid (and possibly other festival related landmarks)? Any others tips appreciated, including anywhere recommended in Glastonbury town too.
  13. I’m terms of arrival times, it is one of the main reasons I usually stay in Worthy View. Arrive on Wednesday but in absolutely no rush, it can take me a day or so to ‘wind up’ to the festival so like to do that, gently, well before I start worrying about clashes etc
  14. Bigger in terms of indicator of mainstream success Pyramid sub, better (imo at least) Other. I think it depends on the artist to some degree. For an Elbow or Noel Gallagher, Pyramid sub is a huge slot but Other headline far better for the likes of The Chems or LCD. i don’t recall anyone ever listing a Pyramid sub in their favourite ever performances.

I saw them on the Pyramid and multiple times on the other - given the choice I think I’d prefer them on the other again now. The Pyramid is great if you happen to love a huge act that everyone else does but often has a more dispersed and lacklustre crowd, I fear that would be the case for the Chems no matter what they did

As others have said, thanks all, for making this weekend a lot better than I feared. Been great to have a bit of the Glastonbury spirit even though we couldn’t be there

Sums it up perfectly. Not liking the act on the Pyramid? Terrible clashes? Who cares - as long as you like what you’re watching, I’m sure others will do too

I’ve debated (argued) this quite a lot with my wife. I think it largely depends how in to them you are. To me it was a great set list with great songs from across their albums and some album tracks from their iconic albums I haven’t heard in a while. To her it was boring with too few of the huge hits from the biggest albums early on to keep interest. When they play Creep I shrug a bit (not even my first choice off Pablo) but others are standing waiting for it. For the Cure the roles are reversed - I just want a 60ish minute wall to wall greatest hits but most acts don’t do that.

Well Macca was probably as lacklustre as an 80 year old former Beatle playing some of the hits mixed in with recent stuff, joined by two huge guests could be… which is far from the worst Pyramid headliner they could/have had. It was the last time he’ll do that, among the last of his generation to do it. Sure it was probably closer to Springsteen 2009 than Bowie 2000 but if people didn’t enjoy it it’s very easy to go elsewhere/switch channels. People can be as cynical as they want about Hey Jude… but watching that on TV, that many people, back in that field, singing together as one, a significant chunk of the nation joining in at home, after what we have all been through? Epic. I cried, a lot.
