lol thanks i did do that for 8 years (all eggs in one basket) and regret every day of it know but what i meant and i have just googled it so i know now is the piegeon hole principle where you put all your pigeons into one pigeon hole meaning you considered everyone to be the same, as in goblinz comment posted above he thinks everyone will turn out the same.....

im gonna stop now cuz im confusing myself :D

Oh I seeeeeeee, that's what you meant. Yeah, I think that's why it's good to be on your own for a while. If you see someone too soon after seeing someone else, you pick up on the things they do which are similar to the last person.

I'll still be able to spot a control freak from a million miles away these days though!

I don't think it's something you can really put a time scale on. Or are you spending Download with someone a bit special, hmmm?

I think the phrase you're looking for is "tarring/painting everybody with the same brush".

I've found that in relationships, even if the other person doesn't tell you what to do then I'd still end up feeling guilty. IE, One of my Ex's didn't go to many festivals, I do 7 or 8 a year and then end up feeling guilty cos I didn't have holiday time left to spend with her: A girl used to knock around with is completely anti dr*gs, meant I felt guilty doing things that I'd usually do, she didn't tell me to stop but I had to in a way because i knew it would upset her... There's another thing that's a lot more serious than that which completely screwed my life up and still makes me loose sleep at night. That isn't for this forum though.

Maybe I have to much guitlt, maybe I'm too sensitive to other people's feelings, I don't like the idea of not being able to do the things I want to for fear of upsetting someone else. It's a kind of none deliberate control. Getting in a relationship gives someone else the power to screw you around and to f*ck your head up whether intetnionally or not, all you have is trust that someone won't do that. This is all very well when your happily in love, but in the event of a break up then there's every chance that the person you've completely let your guard down to will throw it back at you.

If you text someone you're 'linked' with saying you are 'in pain' because you spent £450 on car insurance ouch' and they text back with 'you're in pain?' then you text back trying to be flirty, saying 'need soothing etc' but they say 'why are you in pain?' would you think they were a bit thick?

Bear in mind this dumbness happens quite often. I wasn't actually in pain - was just hit in the pocket! Needs no explanation really does it :D but when he sends things like this I just don't text back (actually typed out a 'this isn't working... you just don't get me..) text but didn't send it.

I'm thinking he's lived quite a sheltered life. When I pick up on him not knowing what 'hare of the dog' is or 'infectious' means or whatever, he says he wasn't very good at English at school and doesn't know many long words.

I'm hardly Brain of Britain but usually things like the above examples are common sense?

Hopefully so..... I'm supposed to be meeting up with the lass I saw met up with a couple of times last week. Still not sure where I stand with her. She seemed very keen on finding stuff out about me but ended up leaving early last time I saw her. Sporadically doesn't respond to texts but told me she'd see me at Download. God knows, she's young so probably being a bit scatty.

I know! I had her on my bed, we were drinking wine, we were watching Napoleon Dynamite but mostly kissing, and I said something like "you can't walk home in this weather... maybe you better stay...". She replied "Nice try". So I walked her home.

Damn it! Not that it's all about sex, i'm still having a great time with her. But if it doesn't happen before she leaves then i'm gonna be really depressed!

Maybe she felt how tiny my penis is and it put her off.

A guy who I kinda liked but I was with someone at the time who I met at Leeds festival in 2001 has got in touch to say he's in Manc and would I like to meet up for a few drinks and a catch-up with an old friend. I want to go, it would be nice to see him, but he's married with kids these days. Are people who are married with kids allowed to meet up with old friends when they are away from home for the weekend?? I think I'd be a bit funny about it if I was the wife personally. But it will honestly just be drinks and a catch-up. Hmmmmmmm.

 I have the odd moment of that.

I've never cheated on a boyfriend, but i may have snogged a married at some point. And there is this thing still going on with the guy that still lives with his ex. I'm still not sure i believe him that they are not together but he has been looking for places to live. Just seems to be dragging on a bit and the longer it drags on the more i think he's probably lying.

Exactly, I don't think I'll mess around though, and for all I know his intentions may also be very honourable. We've kept in touch over email and he's never been flirty, he always just sends photos of things like his wedding and when the kids were born and stuff.

In my opinion anyone who stays living with an ex for very long after they've supposedly split is possibly hanging around waiting to get back together with them. I couldn't even bare to stay an extra five minutes to listen to anymore of my crazy ex's shit and ended up stroming out of the house and never looking back....and when I split up with the guy I'd been with for years, we didn't actually live together but the first thing he said was that I needed to leave, right away. How long does it really take to find somewhere else to live? Anywhere would do while you found your feet rather than staying living with someone you apparently don't want to be with? I'd have thought.

My thoughts exactly - i'm not really that bothered, i only really see him for lunch occasionally and sometimes we go to the pub after work. So while there isnt really anything going on i'm just seeing what happens. I haven't formed any major attachment.
