When did the perception of Pearl Jam become one of a traditional rock band?

A seminal alternative rock and grunge band is what they are. Which in my book elevates them above other outdated and superficial rock groups and genres.

Paula and I are going to see the Lemonheads in July ;)

In late April 2005, PEARL JAM played a surprise show at Easy Street Records in West Seattle on a Friday night in support of the 10th anniversary of the Coalition of Independent Music Stores (CIMS). The result was a once in a lifetime performance that has been captured on an EP entitled LIVE FROM EASY STREET. This 7 song EP contains 3 never before released cover songs!

The 120 indie record store owners and managers who were in Seattle for the CIMS conference boarded a shuttle to attend what they were told was just “a party at Easy Street.” At about 9 PM, Pearl Jam appeared on a tiny stage that had been built in the store that day, and played a sizzling 1 1⁄2 hr performance in front of 200 people!

I'm trying to get tickets for Harper in Nice at the moment, but its a damn French website and I don't understand what the hell they're on about. The tour roughly coincides with PJ (suprise, suprise) so I'm expecting an appearance by both at each others gigs - That would be special, especially 'indifference' and 'My Own Two Hands'.
