i think anyone whos spent 160 odd quid to get a reading ticket, and as a genuine music fan, would have the common sense to pick up a few pearl jam cds, if not then they might miss out on an amazing gig for them, so i think its safe to say people are going to get into pearl jam becuase of reading

EDIT: cock? no f**king need mate

Yeah, I can say I'm already one of those people. When the annoucement was made I was disappointed, but I think they're the band I'm looking forward to third most now. I honestly didn't know who they were before, but they are a grunge band I've found and I can enjoy.

I've got Riot Act and Rearviewmirror, have to say their older stuff sounds alot better. I'll definitely be into them when CW comes round, think I'm gonna look into picking up the new album as well.

I am going to get some CD's...if i like them i will go and see them and im sure they will put on a great show.

But if i dislike there music, or just dont get into them, i will quite happily see Maximo Park, and im sure they will put on a great show.

The new album is about four thousand times better than their last effort. It leaked yesterday and I think virtually everyone will prefer it to Riot Act...and probably Binaural too. There aren't really any 'weak' songs on it and there are at least 3 or 4 absolute classics.

Severed Hand is an intense, upbeat rocker in the vein of Porch. Unemployable is a massive departure from their sound. Very interesting and suits his voice perfectly today.

Then the last three songs are really beautiful. Army Reserve, Come Back (lighters aloft!) and Inside Job. The last one especially.

I think Vs is an essential album aswell, maybe not as much as ten, but for tracks like animal, daughter, dissident, elderly woman, glorified G, indifference. tis cracking still and highly recommended

Am I the only one who hates Severed Hand?!

Everytime I listen to it I just think "...Porch was better". I try and listen to it without thinking of Porch, but that riff makes it imposssible. I guess it could sound cool if they tacked it onto the end of Porch, abut as a stand alone song I think it's terrible.

Have you heard the song?

The riff is very nearly the same as the Porch riff. It's not harsh at all. If they use the same riff then there's obviously going to be comparison. In my opinion Porch is 10 times as good as Severed Hand.

I love every PJ album, but too be honest this is shaping up to be my least favourite. I've heard WWS, SH, Unemployable and Parachutes. WWS and Unemployable are quite good but nothing special, Parachutes doesn't do much for me and SH is pretty poor.

    • Yesterday was another brilliant day of music for me. Some highlights:  My Bloody Valentine - absolutely loved it! Maybe my main festival highlight. I felt submerged in the music with all the layers and distortion. It becomes hypnotic almost as it progresses. Not as loud as some thought it might be, but it didn’t need to be. The visuals added a lot too. During the noise part of You Made me Realise, I was basically in a trance staring at the visual tunnel or whatever it was on screen. Amazing experience. Little Simz - as she mentioned at the start, you’re guaranteed a good time with her. Great performance just like in 2022. Zero complaints. The little DJ section wasn't something I expected but was cool. Kneecap - I had a blast but at this point in the night I was at my most intoxicated let's say, so I don’t remember it as clearly as I'd have liked to!    The xx - The sound for this was perfectly balanced (at least where I was) and the band were great. Lots of talkers, but with the crowd size and being kind of far back, it's to be expected. Intro was one of my favourite moments this year. Big Thief - really good live performers. The lead singer has a lovely voice. This was a nice chill way to kick off the mordor gigs for me.
    • I've been attending Primavera every year since my first one in 2017 & it's always been my favourite week of the year, but I think things have changed.   Firstly, the site just feels too busy in this current set-up. I'm sure it was a lot easier back in 2017-19 to get between the stages & then a good spot for the next one, but now you increasingly have to sacrifice parts of a set or miss them out completely to plan for later on. I wish we still had the Bits area over the bridge to spread everyone out.   But the main issue is the talking, it's always been here but this year it's been relentless & I just can't tolerate it any more. It's at every stage, and everywhere from the front to the back, there is no escape. Not focusing on nationalities, but a major dynamic now seems to be groups of people who are only focusing on their own good time & aren't interested if this affects anyone else. It seems essential that all members of the group are together at the same time, so it's people making telephone calls, people on shoulders waving phone torches, people barging through. It's alright, I'm only trying to watch The Cure here.   I will have a year away to think about it. I thought might give up completely but yesterday was a bit of a classic day after two unenjoyable ones. Adding Olivia Rodrigo to Baxter Dury, Gelli Haha, The XX, Gorillaz & Kneecap shows how good it can be, but as with everything, it's always the people that have the biggest impact.
