Green Gathering

Hi all,

I'm thinking of getting tickets to Green Gathering this year. It looks like such a cool, chilled festival. Has anyone here been in recent years, and what are your general thoughts/critique of the festival?

Thank you

Hi CharlotteB,

I've never been but I am going this year and have already bought my ticket.

I'm going alone so will use the quiet camping area which I hope will be peaceful.

I can't wait to go. Have you decided to go?

I've not been able to find any other forums about Green Gathering, have you found any?

Same here, can't wait 😀

Are you following them on Facebook? The only thing that's giving me a teenie weenie bit of concern is they shared a post saying how tough it is money-wise for small festivals at the moment, then a few weeks later they were asking if people wanted to drop off flyers for them at cafes and such.

I really hope they don't have to cancel, and if they do, I hope we get a refund (I'm a bit paranoid about this because I've been stung before).

Just a feeling I had. Probably nothing 😅

Presuming my van gets fixed in time (injectors-expensive), I’ll be there as part of the craft area crew

They bloody are expensive. I had to have them done last year 😠 hopefully you make it. Have you been before? Is it as brilliant as it looks on the website?

Strangely I’ve never been. Loads of my mates go every year and I’ve had a free way in for years

With the different areas/stages/bars and general setup it looks like a much bigger festival than it actually is (I know it's derived from a bigger festival, so maybe that has something to do with it).

I highly recommend this festival! Just got back, and I'm really surprised the people in this forum aren't all over Green Gathering. It's so Glastonbury! Did anyone else here go?

I'll definitely be going again.

Sadly having my injectors changed made no difference, so I didn’t make it. I’m now significantly poorer and extremely unhappy

Plenty to do for kids. There are 4 small stages, and the biggest crowd I saw was for Seize the Day (who I saw at the Small World Stage at Glastonbury on the Thursday). Loads of crafts stalls and activism stuff. Good food, a fairly cheap pint at a river (and great selection of beers, ciders and mead). Plenty of camping space. There's family and quiet camping areas. We ended up in general camping, but that was still quiet. Very chilled indeed

It's pretty much the Green Futures Field at Glastonbury. Absolutely fantastic!

Oh, I see so it's more of a chill vibe than a party vibe both during the day and during the night then? I like doing lots of workshops and activities during the day but I also like my night parties or just acoustic backed singing or jamming until the wee hours 🙂

They have a DJ stage for the night, but I don't think it continues till like 5am or anything, and the party certainly doesn't come back to where everyone is camped. There are campfire jams and entertainment late on too. Depends how hardcore you want it, really

Just had a look at the program, and it looks like all the stages had acts on till 2am (I was snoring way before then though lol).

    • It was awful during Father John Misty and I was close to the front. People just shouting and laughing their f-ing heads off about nothing in particular and being louder than the bloody stage.
    • Other things I noted yesterday, away from the obvious…   Positives: - an extra water point towards the back left of the main stages has appeared, which I believe is new for this year (and was much needed) - handing out free ponchos was a good touch  - caroline were fantastic. I’d never been in the Auditori Rockdelux before, it’s a wonderful venue and a great venue if you fancy a more chilled out environment  Negatives: - the talkers. I know it’s always bad here (and most festivals nowadays) but f**k me people wouldn’t shut up yesterday. I wonder if it was partly as a result of people being at artists they had little interest in (due to rain limiting their options), although it wasn’t great during blood orange. We’ll be making an effort to get a spot nearer the front for anyone we particularly care about over the weekend  - not enough staff around (and the ones that are there are largely useless). Most other festivals have them everywhere and are happy to help
