The Charlie Gillet stage had a good sound engineer who kept the volume and especially the bass at a suitable level. Generally the other stages allowed the sound controllers to show how loud they could go… what is lost is the quality of the music and the subtlety of the musicianship - less volume gives more subltlity. Also should under 5’s or young children be allowed so close.. does anyone check the decibels ? So concerts are spoilt by a ridiculous throbbing bass - Another observation is the further shift away from acoustic instruments - sad to lose  non-electric instruments such as violins and Balofon…..

It has always amazed me how loud the stages are at Womad. That being said I thought the sound in the D&B Soundscape tent was excellent. Snapped Ankles and The Comet is Coming provided a great surround sound experience.

Mollys bar was loud enough especially for us volunteering, sleeping!!! Behind the medical tent until 0400 😀

I’d noticed very young children without ear protection too. Not at all clever!
