we came in as a convoy, although there was no checking of the names on the CV passes in the end.

But just because they didn't check last year doesn't mean they won't be checking this year.

Bus station to CV East is about the furthest apart you can be... I would reckon the best part of an hours walk.

Yes - more if its muddy or you have a lot to carry. 

PED-A to PED-C is an almighty trek, then you have the hill of death and worst case if in E17 another 20 minutes walk once outside the gate.
