Wicket ground arrival help

I am hoping to get to wicket ground on Wednesday afternoon. .looking at the map ..ideally yellow car park and pedestrian gate A is the way to go...now am I right in thinking I can't choose the car park gate I enter but if I hit the site from the west then am guaranteed to be in a west car park.?

Also once I am parked up in whatever car park am I free to head to any pedestrian gate I choose or will I be told what gate I must use ? ?

Yup - basically when you arrive you will be directed to whatever car park they are filling at the time.  From there you are on your own in determining which entry gate you go to*

You are right about just approach from the west - if youre coming down from glasgow then aim for M5 J23 and go through Glastonbury Town.

Enjoy

* the only thing that changes this is if there is an issue at one of the gates, for example last year lots of people were directed to Gate A as there were stories of someone collapsing in the que at Gate D (I dont know if this is true or not but read about it on here)

Gate A is defo the one to take for wicket. Great place to camp with weans and will be plenty room on Wednesday afternoon.

Think I read somewhere it would be a wee bit smaller this year with the changes to John peel area but we still found space last year and we couldn't arrive till Friday morning.

There are 10 of us wanting to camp in Wickets but only 1 is under 16....will be able to all camp together or will some need to camp somewhere else?

Thanks

I very much doubt it! Wickets is for family camping so if you are 9 adults and one child, I don't think you'd qualify.

I posted the below in the wrong thread last night so apologies if you've already read it but it might have more chance of being answered here...

Just weighing up whether to come and pitch up on Weds or Thurs evening (we can't actually stay till Friday) and was just wondering if anyone's noticed whether it's generally any less busy on a particular evening? (particularly traffic as we'll have our youngest with us and a stationary car+8 month old are not a nice mix!!)

I've never been at all concerned or fazed about Glasto before, just rocked up as and when but with kids it turns into a logistical anxious nightmare!

to be honest this would be a little bit shellfish if you did its meant to be for family's with young children. I don't know your situation but my opinion

I agree with respectfatfrog on this, again I don't know your circumstances but I would feel uncomfortable with my 4 year old running around the campsite early morning if there were large groups of adults nearby, however quiet or friendly they appeared to be. For their sake as well as mine! Obviously I wouldn't let her out of sight anyway but the main appeal of Wicket is that it is there specifically for families with young children so people with screaming 4 year olds don't feel as worried and the environment is as safe as it could possibly be in the circumstances.

I suppose it's a bit like booking into a hotel abroad aimed specifically at children; if you only had one child in a party of 10 you probably wouldn't consider doing it.

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
