smogo
From the News section: Quote There's a recent economic study by a parcel delivery company (and we aren't sure why they're the ones who would know), and which The Guardian reports (here) that suggests that more than 1 in 10 festivals will fold this year amid ever-increasing security and infrastructure costs and tough competition for ticket sales. This apocalyptic scenario for the festival industry is something that eFestivals believes is very unlikely to happen, yes many festivals run on precarious finances where if they don't get enough ticket sales than they're unlikely to continue, but it's unlikely that 100 of this year’s festivals will not reappear in 2017, something the delivery group's report suggests is likely. But then you quote the number of festivals listed on efests this year (930) and last year (1070). So surely that means a net total of 140 festivals have folded or not reappeared this year - 13% of last year's total.
5co77ie
if you read on... Quote Whilst the figure is currently 930 for this year, we expect the figure to cross the 1,000 threshold as 'winter' events are added. there's still half a year of events to go yet - with much of the 'winter' calendar not yet announced. I've got half a dozen I need to list this week - at that rate a week the 1070 is likely to be broken before the end of the year.
krisskross
Surely the whole Quote The UK’s largest festival – Glastonbury – has a turnover of £37m but sees profits of just £86,000: less than 50p per ticket. Is due to offsetting profits though. Did Glastonbury build anything / pay for anything big that year? Given the festival isn't run for profit in the same way as Coachella its not really that surprising which makes more money..
