Getting to Gate A coming from the west

Can anyone recommend a good route to get to gate A if coming from the west (Oxford). Would usually head south and come along the A303 but worried I'll get ushered into the east carparks. Will be camping in Darble and really don't fancy a trek across the whole site with all my shit. Considering heading to Bristol then down, but wondered if anyone knows a better way.

Long way round though....you could also look at M4 > J18 > A46 to Bath > A367 > A362 > A39 to Wells > then take the Glastonbury Road south from Wells and you'll be directed off through Launcherley and North Wootton villages into West car parks.

If you're nearer to the M4 then see my post above.  If you're nearer to M3 then I'd suggest M3 > A303 > off at Stonehenge onto A360 > B390 across Salisbury Plain > A36 > A362 to Frome.  From Frome head to Shepton Mallet on A361 but be careful to then take directions to Wells and then head south as in post above.
